In today's paper, the advertisement by the local Nissan dealer, from CT, has a NEW $23,617 MSRP '01 Auto Maxima with A/C, PWR Windows&Locks, and Cruise Control going for $19,9859.

That's a pretty good deal. What are they going for near you guys?

There's a $500 rebate goin' on, expect that to move into the thousands by September. You basically take the invoice price, take off 3%, take off $500, and add $200. That's what they are selling for. It's an absolute disgrace when a car advertises for invoice, and there are over 80 in stock available. Don't pay that price, it's way too high. The true cost on the vehicle is 18,870. If you believe in the concept that the dealer must make at least $200 on the car for financing it, stocking it, paying the utilities etc, then that car goes for 19,070. How greedy they are in cT eh? They're looking to make $900 on a car that wont sell, what do they think they're bmws or something!? *lol*

ps the list is 23,489 looks like your dealer helped themselves to another $128 in profits, as there is no option that is $128 or any that add up to that. Another trick when they put a sticker on the car listing stuff beyond mfg list price.

Still think the Maxima is way better than a Civic even though they cost about the same, looks aside. C'mon you still get a way better motor, but many people don't car and still buy the Civic.

I have been going back and forth on an 02 or an 01 SE manual. I think I have made up my mind. As a father of two , I just can't justify paying the high premium that the 02 is probably going to demand. I am looking at getting into an 01 SE for around 17K maybe less once the large rebates come for the 01 max as you know they will. Just a better all around deal IMO. With around 123K on my 98 GXE, its time for something new.
