Okay, so I figure there are sensors in the track for the timing, but what device is used to measure your mph? Some kind of photo gate?

That's why I asked. Would that set off my (or others) radar detectors? Is it just really weak radar?

Well, my radar detector's hard wired, and always on when the car is, so I would have noticed if it went off at the track. It doesn't. That leads me to belive that they use something other than radar.

well thats strange because i figure whatever device they are using has to shoot or do something to your car.. thus evoking some trip to the Radar detector.. hmmm... i dunno

I always thought that it was a series of light sensors. And AFAIK, the last two sensors spaced at 60' before and at the 1/4 mile line could be used to figure your trap speed.

This is correct. There is a set of lights that measures your average speed across the last 60' feet of the track.
