Why can't I search?

Hahah not the normal question you'd expect, I've paid and stuff but every time I go to do a search I get this: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted at (null):0 (tried to allocate 1024 bytes) in /home/httpd/vhosts/forums.maxima.org/httpdocs/search.php on line 910

Did I miss something about the search function being down? Its been doing it for a good couple days if not longer. tried cleaning temp. internet files and everything, didnt work, any suggestions? And I bet everyone flipped when they saw the thread title haha

edit: I know this has nothing to do directly with a maxima but I didnt know where else to put it

The memory allocated for searching is pretty small. If you put in a bunch of common words, it runs out of memory and the search fails. Otherwise, it would slow the server down too much everytime you tried to search. When you put in something like "customer cold air intake setups" it does not look for that exact phrase. It goes through EVERY thread ever, looking for those words. So if someone was talking about tires, and put in the word "air", it will bring that up. See how it can run out of memory? You need to be more specific when searching. Try searching certain forums, with one or two words, then you will have to sort through the BS to find what you need.

"y-pipe install" in the 5th gen forum gets you this.

You're just not very good at searching.

Okay guys, I'm getting tired of seeing this in my PM box. I've fended off at LEAST fifteen of these today alone.
Please read the Site Announcements Forum.

If you can't seem to find the very top forum on maxima.org, then here's the link for you:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=268739

It's a simple as that. It says pretty plainly that the search has been disabled when you try to use it. I can't do anything about it. Neither can Jeff, Bill, Chris, Sprint, Clee, mzmtg, Tim, Shing, etc etc etc etc. As soon as the computer geeks that run this place figure things out, then they'll turn it back on.

Please stop filling all of us mods' inboxes with questions about it. Jane said it VERY clearly in the post in the Announcements Forum.
