3rd vs 4th gen manual tranny

Which car has a smoother transmission. I drove the 3rd gen (VE engine) and it was very balky. Is the 4th gen any improvement?

Balky tranny

I don't know about the 3rd gen and how it feels, but you can address the balkiness by changing the tranny fluid. When I changed mine to Redline MT-90, my car went from somehwat balky to loose as hell!
