Poll: How many of you still put a lot into your maxima?

A lot as in effort, money, etc. I have owned my max for only a few years (about 4) and as much as I love it, I am pretty much done in terms of modding. I have other hobbies now that take up time and money also so the maxima has taken a back seat. Don't get me wrong, I love the max but then again, when something new comes out I am just not into it anymore. A lot of the money that goes into the car now is just for maintenance and a lot of the mod money I used to put into the car has gone into things like my bike, condo, and a savings account. Anyone else here have gone the same way?

I go back and forth with keep my current cars or sell everything and start over. Lately I back on the build a Porsche stomping Z car kick and just keep the Maxima as my daily driver. I have a hard time starting over since the cars are paid for, just insurance, mods, and maint now.

I still love the car to death, but shes come down a bit since I bought her.

I put too much into her, but she rewards me for a bit, then it all starts over. I've dropped quite a bit into mods and maintenance this past month. We'll see how she does at the track soon. Shes still my number 1 hobby!

The only money I put into this car now is gas and maintenance. I'm about to get rid of my max in a few months though.

I just recently got my Maxima a few weeks ago and I'm finally able to drive it after waiting for two weeks. I'm working on some cosmetic things on it, but all the money I put into my car after that is maintaining it.

I'm driving it until it won't physically move, and then I will fix it with junkyard parts and do the same.

Over the past couple of months I really stepped it up a bit with the mods..now that most of what I had in mind (and what I can afford) is done..I may just relax and go back to building up my savings acct.

Just to explain better..I started with just a fstb back in dec 06(after I owned the car for 3 months)
-Then came the installation of my system-dec 06
-Then came tinting the windows (twice-first job looked like crap)jan 07, then march 07
-Then came my 01 SE Black OEM tail lights in feb 07
-Then I dropped the car with Eibach pros, Tokico Illuminas april 07
-Then I put on my progress rsb in july 07
-Then I put in my AEM Custom SRI in august 07
-Then came my stillen lip kit in August 07
-Then came a revamping of most lighting, all interior, my rear signals, front clearance and fog lights in Aug 07
-Then came a long *** detailing job last week

-As of right now I'm done with the big spending, I may continue with minor upgrades/mods..the next biggest will be an in dash screen.

I used to put money into it until I got arrested! Oweing the state money isn't any fun. Besides, my max has got so many door dings, paint chips, a cracked windsheild, weird noises, and too many maintanence issues to mod anymore. I do however love my AE headlight mode, tinted windows, se taillights. I had a strut tower bar, subwoofer, rammat in the trunk, headunit...all have been sold though

I used to make the max my #1 on my list before but not anymore. Not that I don't like driving it, it's just it's still gonna be a 12 year old fwd sedan with an auto slushbox and flimsy chasis and lots of miles on the odo (180k). I'll be better off by investing my time on other things like education, job and etc. rather than modding it. Hopefully I'll earn some big bucks before or after I graduate and get a better car to start modding like an M3, M5, 911 GT3, F430 and up.
Anyway, I'll plan to keep the max until it dies even if I buy another car

After the last few big things (paint, wheels) I'm done with modding my Max. It's at a point where I am happy with what it is - a good looking, fun to drive DD. It has 160k on it and is logging 100+ miles every day with few issues. Now the money is going towards another project car (one I don't have to worry about driving to work every day) - just need to actually FIND one now.

The only thing I may still do is an I30 Black interior swap.

When you first get a car, such as a max, you get hit with alot of wants and needs you feel is important for your car to make it urs...and then typically the rush sorta dies down when you are happy...such as it seems the thread starter...stated...

I myself have done alot upfront (look@sig mods), and thats it for a while (body kit/grille by next season)

Now the max is on the back burner and im back on my way for saving for real estate which in the end is way more important to me!!

WELL THE MAX WILL ALWAYS BE MY BABE, BUT I HAVE BEEN KIND OF LOOKING AT OTHER CARS, BECAUSE WHERE I LIVE YOU NEED A TRUCK OR AT LEAST A CAR WITH AWD. So i was thinking about a '06,'07 lexus Gs 350 awd, but until i get it the max will always be first priority... well after paying rent, car insurance, phone bills, etc...... but i always have something special for my car each week when i fill it up with 93 Bp

In the past two years the only things I've bought are projectors and a dvd player. I was really into it but the love for modding faded quickly. I still love the car and wouldn't trade/sell it unless something really bad happens to it, ie accident. I'm just running this son of a batch into the ground now and getting every penny's worth that I put into it by just driving it till it dies.

I used to be big into modding in college. But since I was on a college budget, I didn't have much money to spend on it so that kept me in check.

Now that I've graduated for 1+ years and use my car strictly as my daily driver, I've found that it is necessary to keep it well maintained and running right because it's my legs to get to and from work and grad school. I've sold practically everything, only thing I still have in it is my system, suspension and wheels, which are all very basic and low-visibility.

Plus, it's not very professional to drive a loud flashy car in a corporate environment.

My money now goes to brokerage accounts, 401k's, etc.

i was really into modding the car when i had my accord. it my first car and the need to make it unique was my first priority...but after i wrecked it i got the maxima and i didn't care about modding anymore =/ i didn't want that much attention anymore and just wanted a car to drive around in. i don't think i've modded my maxima except for tsx projector retrofit only because after having it on my other car, i couldn't stand how the stock hid's were lol. that's about it i guess...it's like when i see fixed up cars they don't excite me anymore...stock cars excite me more...gee i feel old =/

I still remeber your sweet looking accord too. It was very clean and very OEM looking (other than the drop).

I don't plan on modding the engine. The engine is more than fast enough for me as stock. I enjoy racing every now and then but having the fastest car and always winning races isn't important to me. In my town a lot of people drive 4 cyl. accords, camrys, sonatas and whathaveyou. So I can already blow away a majority of the road as it is.

I am working on some cosmetic imperfections in my Maxima. Some of the leather was ripped and it had some scratches on the outside before I bought it. When I did my carfax on this car I saw that it was stolen twice in Houston Texas LOL.

Im not putting much until I get my credit card debt down......god damn car.....

I have also found I go through spurts of wanting lots of cosmetic stuff....but then realize that performance makes me the happiest....So I have lots of exterior mods in my garage collecting dust....

Now that you've put the VQ35 into the sentra, you should find the body of a max and drop the VK57DE and convert it into a RWD w/ a 2 speed 4WD transfercase lol

As an added bonus, the stock suspension already has the wheel gap for a truck

If I was you, I'd make my first priority buying some tires that actually fit my rims. My second priority would by buying some rims that actually fit my car.

Do you hang around a lot of flush **** 240sx owners?

My Maxima definitely took a backseat, even before I bought my project 240sx. The last mod I did to my car was over a year ago.

I will be expecting a lot of my maxima though in the coming years, since it will be and has been used as a daily driver while my 240sx waits patiently in my garage. This winter, as long as I work for the company I'm aiming for as a co-op, will do 2 hour daily roundtrip commutes, while my 40 is torn apart again for it's "transformation".

I've been trying to get the motivation to put a wrench on the Maxima, but it's just too hard to bring myself to it.
