I think that if there was a car care forum there would just be repeat questions over and over again. It'd be a better idea though just to have an FAQ on car cleaning.

Here's a writeup one of our members did. Those of you that went to the LSP meet, his car was the red altima.

Q)My Altima is very dirty, what’s the best way to detail the exterior?
A)Lets first begin with washing. Before you wash your car, make sure you wet it down well, to get rid of loose dirt. You should just use a basic car wash solution. Try to use one that won't strip off your wax, like: Mothers California Gold carwash or Meguiars car wash or Zip Wax. Make sure you get a good lather going, sudsier, the better, and invest in a wash mitt. The sponges tend to get dirt trapped in the little crevices and you end up putting tiny hairline scratches on your car. After washing, dry your car using the absorber. Now for you boys with nice rims, you need to jack up the car and wash them separately even wash under the wheel well, get all that dirt out. Wash your rims with the same soap solution, dry them then get a good alloy or chrome polish (Mothers California Gold makes good ones) and for an added measure of protection, I like to use some carnauba wax (Mother's California Gold is good since it comes off easily). Remember use a little wax, it should not even look like your putting any on, then buff it off really well. Your rims will glisten!! Now for tires, just use some Mothers California Gold Back to Black cleaner and clean the tires with that, then get some Black Magic tire dressing, in the spray bottle and a brush. Now pour the black magic into a cup and just paint it onto the tires, do this twice with about 20 minute intervals. Now getting back to the car, now that you have washed it, use some Meguiars Paint Cleaner and clean off all the oxidized paint (do this once every 3 months or so). Clean that all off, your car will start to look really shiny now. Now for the polish, this is what will catch everyone's eyes. Use Zymol polish/glaze!!! The best stuff ever made...depends the color of your car and makes it look like a mirror. Now, put on the Zymol a section at a time (2ftx2ft) and take off the polish as soon as your done with each section, don't worry about the swirl marks, just take off as much as possible. When you have done the entire car, put the car in the sun for a half hour and let the surface heat up a bit. Now get some distilled water and place it in a spray bottle. Bring your car back in the shade. Now mist on the water a section at a time and wipe it off with a clean cloth (I usually use a t-shirt) and then buff with another dry cloth, you should start to see the shine and the swirl marks will start to disappear. When you are done, you should have a brilliant shine!!! Now, leave the car for a while in the sun to let this dry and cure and them come back and using some Mothers California Gold carnauba wax, wax your car. You need very little, a quarter size amount can do half of your hood...it should look like nothing is going on. Now just wipe off and buff and your car should be glimmering!!!!!!! Now if you get dust on the car, just take the same spray bottle with the distilled water and you can use that to wipe the car down, even your rims, and your car will still shine! Now when cleaning your windows, don't just use a tissue and Windex; the key to clean streak free windows is a squeegee!!! Just spray your cleaner on and use the squeegee to take it off. Do this inside and out. –Orlando
