I'm going to start to thoroughly clean my car for the upcoming Maxus meet. I figure I'll work on the thing on section at a time for the next few days, starting with the interior, since my car really doesnt get driven that much now. The outside hasnt been waxed in god knows how long and needs a good clay barring. Anyway, I looked at my car today and it was a disaster. The inside has spots galore and everything is dirty. Goodthing I have tan and dirt doesnt show up too well but none the less it shows up. I think I'm going to rent a steam cleaner, because the carpet could sure use it, and I have enough spilt drinks in the center console and carpet to justify the cost and time to remove them and the seats (and I could shampoo the family room and hopefully the parents will help pay for the rental). I might have to do shampooing more then once, as my car is probably that dirty on the inside. I also gotta wipe down every interior panel as most of its covered in dust.

Questions here... how do I clean the headliner? Somehow there are stains up there, probably from me leaving the sunroof open when it was raining before.

Another question, what products work well on cleaning the engine compartment?

I use a product called red thunder to clean the engine bay, then once it dries just detail it with some silicon dressing.

No idea regarding the headliner other than carpet cleaner...

Regular upholstery (spelling?) cleaner worked on my headliner (a few black smudges and some dry hairspray), and I always use Simple Green on the engine and wheels.

I too use simple green to clean the engine but I wouldn't use that to clean the wheels because it's a degreaser and will ruin your rims.
