my local exhaust place put on my budget y-pipe , hi flow cat ( if there is such a thing ) , b-pipe , dynomax turbo muffler. the sound is LOW frequency , but LOUD decibls (sp). but at hi rpm's 3500 and up it's actually quiet.. but then the CAI takes over..lol.

anyway i like the low rumble out of it at idle but if your crusing at 30-45 mph , the low rumble is a loud rumble. again , the tone is what i wanted , but the actual loudness seems to be to loud. anyway , they did a good job.

they would not put just the y-pipe on , did not know that until after they took everything apart , they said it would fail emissons , so i had to purchase a cat. so my performance might be down from everyone else.

the car feels a little slower , automatic , from a dead stop. got on the road and 80-100 is VERY nice. also 20-60 is quick. got on the hiway and opened it up and from 60-120 is WOW i was very impressed ... more so after i hit 110 ... it's very slow getting to 120 and a crawl to 130.. did not have the chance to go over 120.. or dyno.. but soon.

there is ZERO leaks or noises from the budget y-pipe. i know this has been an issue. i like it and it works well from what i can tell. all in all i am happy will take some getting used to , but 9 out of 10 on the happy meter.

just my thoughts and sorry so long... just feels good to pull up on a mustang/camero/ etc.. and have them look over and see the look in thier faces..lol.

 

I have the 5th gen muffler on my 97 and the tone of the exhaust is just right. I think the Courtesy B-pipe's resonator doesn't quite do its job. My setup is deeper in !st and 2nd to 3,000 RPM but not much louder. The car quiets down past 3K RPM, only the hiss of the intake and y-pipe are heard. From 3rd to 5th gear, my car is as quite as stock.

 

Move to Alabama, we don't have inspections.
