Turbo Maxes?
#1
My Bro in law is selling me a T3/T4 turbo just rebuilt at Texas Turbos only ran a week, waste gate, BOV, Front mount cooler for 1100. So I'm thinking of getting it if tuning and getting the custom PIPe is that much trouble.

Oh so Im wondering....
Do you guys know if its even worth going this route. The price sounds good to me, but I don't know if I should get it if its too much to get done. Any suggestion like maybe buying the kit anways for another car.

Re: Oh so Im wondering....
Naw, buying a kit for another V6 would be too much trouble. Alot of the cost of the kit is the R&D work. You would end up re-fabricating all the pipe anyway. Since you got such a good deal on the expensive equipment, I think this would be a good oppurtunity for you.
A quality header shop should be able to fabricate a piping from the bottom of your stock exhaust manifolds to where you decide to mount the turbo. The piping to and from the turbo-intercooler-maf should not be too hard also. It would probably be about $800 or so to have all this done. Plus you are going to need a FPR and maybe a AFC. Exhaust temp sensor and a a/f guage would be nice also.
If you decide to sell this stuff, let me know. I might want to turbo my 3-gen.![Smilie](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Uncle Max,
If you can make this work. Post details and step by step
so many of us may have some idea of how to put one together.
Don't forget to list any accessories needed to make this
work. Thanks

Actually I went down to this shop about having custom fabricated turbo manifolds. He is doing research as we speak about it. He is trying to design piping around my engine and stuff. I think this would be pretty cool to get.

You guys know how much custom exhaust manifolds are going to cost? Plus all the extra turbo etc.. piping? I hope you are sitting down when he gives you the price. Let me know how much it the quote is.

I think we can use our exhaust manifolds
We just need tubing from manifold to turbo. Francis'g guy does custom tubing so I hope I get some kinda hookup
Since my car we'll probably be the R&D for his Max.
I hope. Hey Francis I hope you read this

you guys dont need custom manifolds fabricated. Lets keep it as simple as possible. A trick downpipe that routes exhaust gas from both banks to the turbo will do. remember when they do the piping, gotta figure WHERE you want the turbo mounted, and WHERE you want the wastegate done. I HIGHLY recommend the Tial 35mm wastegate. if you have automatic, then this will make it about 2x harder. If your manual it will be much easier. More modification needed on an auto. 5th gen auto or manual has more room and should be easier then a 4th gen. I would recommened you get at least an EGT, thats saved my motor a few times, although if you tune it better you in theory, shouldnt run into so many probs.

yea I'm glad its stick
Simple is the key to my pocket book. As long as it works with out risking any more engines I'm cool. But I would like it to look clean as possible. yea our plan was to use the stock manifolds. and no need to waist money if we have them already.

Uhhhhhh I don't know?
Engine
1: Probably for racing hard for about 2 years straight from dealer to spraying. Engine almost blew my hood off when it blew. bent the hood all up.
2: i sent to dealer to see if they could fix the engine. ran for 6 months and head blea and scratched the pistons. I blame that on the dealer
3: Got new engine and it's still running ( for Now)
Tranny
1: Same abuse from first engine Finally gave out 6 months ago.
2: Six months ago a got low mileage tranny. 2 weeks ago i blew a baseball size chunk out of the bottom of tranny. Not spraying. That made me nervous.
3. 1 week old and it's still running ( for Now)
Mods: Intake, ypipe, exhaust, and sticky tires
