I know several people had problems with their auto trannys jerking when they let off the gas at around 45-50 MPH.
I of course had the same problem.

I got my belts replaced today at 80,xxx for the first time and the jerkiness has gone away and the the whole drivetrane feels tighter now.

Don't know if this will work for everybody.
Just thought I'd share.

Drove around some more tonight and still no jerking.
Problem solved.

Just thought I'd post again to move this thread back to the top so everyone can view it.

I'm not quite sure I see the relation. What do the drivebelts have to do with a jerky transmission? Glad your problem is gone though.

Doing a complete tranny fluid flush using the 'Magic Sucker Pump' as DBM likes to call it, also works well. I'm with Eric in saying that the accessory belts shouldn't have an effect on your transmission.

If you shop around, you can usually get a T-tech service for the same price as the sucker pump. The T-tech machine hooks up to the transmission cooler line and replaces all the fluid in around 15 minutes, better than the sucker system which only pulls fluid out of the dipstick tube.

I don't know how new belts fixed the problem either.
But it did, and I'm glad.

just a theory

Think of worn belts like a lose bicycle chain. They've both lost some tension. When you let off the throttle, you go from lets say a "normal" rate of revolutoin, to a "higher" rate of revolution, thus demanding more traction from the belt. Maybe the jerking is caused by a warn belt instantaniously getting traction and snapping taught again? Or, in some way or the other I'm manifesting my desire to be a kid again...

T Tech service

I seen you talking about getting the T Tech done. How much does it generally cost I know around me at Jiffy loop it is around 70 - 80 dollars or so. Also if I wanted them to put in something like Redline fluid are they able to or is it like when they do oil it comes from the ceilings storage area for fluids?

T-tech is normally $90-100. I brought in my own Redline fluid, 12 quarts, and they took $10 off the cost. REdline oil is very expensive though.
