Thinking of joining the Sports Car Club of America and doing auto cross. Any members out there? What are some of the benifits of joining?

There are a few here. As far as benefits once you join, there is a monthly magazine that usually has some interesting articles. Some regions will give a discount, like $5 for the entry fee to the autocross.
