OT : the ride back --> pure luck (long)
first of all i must say that it was a great weekend at DC, loads of fun, some NICE cars and a good round of racing (xcept for the uphill track!).
on the way back to buffalo, after we split up with aaron on the 15 and moved on to the 36, since there were no cars at all... open roads, and it had been about 6-6.5 hrs since we started driving, i just wanted to get back home and crash... so i'm just cruising with my radar detector on by these corn fields when all of a sudden my radar goes CRAZY! i thought i saw a cop in the field before, but since my radar did not go off, i just kept going. but then i see flashy lights and this guy just flying out of the field coming after me. so i slow down and pull over to the side of the road waiting for the cop to do his thing. this is what happened next...
COP : evenin' gentlemen
ME : evenin' officer
COP : u have a radar detector dont u?
(at this point i knew i was screwed so i didnt lie)
ME : yes sir
COP : *with a huge a$$ grin* i know... i just turned on my radar and u braked. u know what speed i clocked u at?
ME : no
COP : 81
ME : *thinking i'm soooo screwed!*
COP : where u coming from?
ME : DC
COP : where u from?
ME : buffalo, been driving for about 8 hrs and i just want to get home and crash
COP : what were u doin in DC?
ME : *give him the whole maxima meet thing*
COP : lets see ur license and registration
ME : *give it to him*
COP : if everything is ok with these papers, i wont give u a ticket *breaks into the biggest grin i ever seen*
ME : ok
2 minutes later he walks up to the car, hands me my papers, and is like, "drive slowly. have a nice day!.... and BTW, thats a nice car!"
god i got lucky... when he said 81 (btw speed limit was 55), i was like ok thats definitely a ticket. i guess he was in a good mood being a sunday and all. plus he was a sheriff so that might have been something. well i'm glad i'm back home in one piece with something less to worry about! overall this weekend was a BLAST!!!
