Hey!

I'm planning to make a purchase soon and am stuck on which one to get. I can get the TYpse S w/Navigation for 30 Grand and the SE is like 6,000 less.

Let me know what you all think. Thanks.

i don't drive autotragics.. slushboxes.. automagics.. no pickup.. can't control the engine.. so the decision would be very obvious for me

The current Maxima 5spd will hang or even possibly beat the CL-S, I have. The new 260hp auto or 6spd will hang the overweight CL-S its *** anyday. Get the Max.

Depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for handling and performance the Maxima is better. The TL-S is no slouch though, and it has none of those annoying beam axle "features". The ride will be better in the TL also. Build quality is a tossup, and looks are a personal preference. Honestly though, it's hard to justify the price increase for what is really an Accord at heart. This brings up the Accord V6... take a look at it, it really is a nice car. Of the TL and the Maxima though, the Maxima is a much better value and that would tip the scale for me.

if you dont really care about the 6tk then get the TLS
personally i dont think the tls is worth that much over the max
but its arguably faster, looks better, you'll get 1034901394013491x better service at acura, and its a better ego booster

Depends on how long you plan on keeping it. I believe Acura has much better resale value than Nissan in general. The TL-S should hold it value better than a Maxima.

I'm also deciding what to get next spring, 02 TL-S or 02 6-speed Max. Not sure if I want a Nav system in there, extra $2000.

I've been surfing at acura-tl.com and have noticed that some of their aftermarket is really expensive. Their stock spoiler is like $900.

If you want automatic and performance, go with TL-S. (Oxymoron, I know) If you want manual, the choice is obvious. If you want a better deal, Maxima all the way. Resale value on the TL is quite low. I'm seeing regular 2000 TL's in my area going for 18-19K in my area. That's quite a dip from the 28,000 selling price in a 2 year period. Maximas are going for that price, even though they have a lower MSRP.
