im not really knowledgeable in this area. but i was wondering how many of you people in cali with a 5th generation maxima have a y-pipe, is it illegal? what will happen if you get caught? and is the ca-nlev one legal? and where do u go to get it installed.
this topic has probably been covered but i want to know about people in cali with y-pipes. any info is helpful.

I have a Stillen Y-Pipe and it's awesome!! It gives you an extra 25 hp!! It's not illegal at all. Stillen says do a couple of "hot runs" before you get your car smogged and you'll have no problems passing. Cops don't go out and seek this item due to the fact you can barely see it unless you jack up your car. Definately get it!

the y-pipe is illegal and a mechanic that follows the rules will not take it off...i had to go to this ghetto place the next city over...i was like yea...there isn't a cat on it...he was like aight and took it right off...but when it comes emissions time...i'll have the car running for like an hour and then go do the test...oh yea...i have a 4th gen max

Get the CA y pipe. There is a VERY slim chance of getting caught because po-po's won't know you're missing a precat. If you take it to Nissan, they'll notice for sure.

what would NISSAN do when you take it in for a check up and they find yout ypipe??

 

If they care and they want to do something about it, I'm sure the first thing that happens is that they try to void your warranty.
