i have a few problems with this issue..

First Problem

Peter Farrell's rx-7 - 20B engine and T-70 Turbo.. only 12.1 1/4 mile
John Lingenfelter Twin Turbo Corvette... only 12.1 1/4 mile
911 Turbo (upgraded Turbos)... only 12.2 1/4 mile

Second Problem

AMG S55 runs 14.0 1/4 mile  but the S600 runs 13.9???

On the Upside

Great Article on Australia's HSV GTS R vs BMW M5..

this Australian Cadilac is real fast and sweet at 13.7 1/4 mile and beat the M5 in category's such as driver comfot, styling and fun to drive...

Great Articles on the G35, 2002 Maxima, Altima and Sentra SE-R.. C&D goes into detail about these cars and really shows that nissan finally means business..

Great Articles on 6 car 50k shootout.. Audi A6 4.2, BMW 540i, Cadilac DTS, Infinti Q45, Jaguar S-Type 4.0, Lexus GS430 and the Mercedes E430..

The 540i (5spd Auto) was quickest 1/4 mile with 14.3 .. the Q and the GS ran close second at 14.5 ... interesting note .. all the cars except the Q price as tested was $10,000 more than the base price.. but the Q was exactly the same amount as the base price... All the cars where Auto's...

Yeah that supertuner challenge was a load of shet ...
C&D never gives accurate times for anything .. It's just semi-informative reading so i can learn about new car features, anything about tuned cars in that magzine is garbage

Yeah, there is a post about this in OT. The HSV is sweet, all they need to do is slap the Z06 engine in that puppy (that was the plan from the start), switch over the steering wheel, and put the fear into BMW. Sub 540i pricing, for almost M5 performance..... I'll buy one.

It would be nice if they would have a little more variety in the Supertuner Challenge. I'd like to see some more cars, and maybe they could make it an actual contest.

yeah.. i can't believe they left out America's number 1 import tuner car for the 90's and 2000.. the mkiv TT.. with small mods you could get a SupraTT to 10's .. small mods meaning some of the money the spent on these cars

I picked up that edition too. Your right the Q45 was a base version. I saw the Q45 at the dealership yesterday that had sweet 18's with 245's and some sort of sport package. It was black on black and was a wicked car. I would take the Q with that sport package over the gs430 no problem. And the Q performance numbers seem to be on track now.

Actually, John Lingenfelter himself has run a 10.96 in a stage 2 Corvette

What's with the STOCK Z06 BEATING all the tuner cars cept the RX-7 (they tied) on the road course section.....somthing is not right there.

I don't belive the numbers on the sedan test. My pops has a GS430...and I have raced a few 540s and beat them all by at least a car. Especially if it's from a roll. The 540i's quarter time was almost a full second faster in this C&D test than in the Motor Trend test this month. The GS's time was the same in both. That just doesn't make sense

i've driven a 540i, and GS400, and in all, i feel the 540i is faster up high, and the GS400 down low, but i feel the power in ther bmw more. no clue why, must be biased over the car...

Its not that bad...

I thought the article was pretty damn good. Remember in this test all cars had to have DOT approved street tires with 5/32 tread at least. This is why you see 12 sec ET's with 118-124mph traps, normal with those traps and drag radials/slicks the car would dig deep into the 11's. Its ashame that some of the other tuner cars couldn't make it. I really wanted to see that hennessy viper put the smack down on the TT vette, not to mention the ACR viper beat the Z06.

The stuff in C&D always seems staged. They complained that half the cars didn't show up, but why didn't they just wait on the article till they could get them all with a better competition and showing Oh well...

The article explained why the other cars were not included in the test. If you missed it, read the article again. Also, in the real world, there are things such as scheduled track times and press deadlines.

At the end of the article, C&D invited those who think they have better tuner cars to call C&D for consideration for the next tuner challenge. Among other things, the car must be street legal, and if imported, must have proper documentation.
