what are coilovers????

well yeah, basically instead of putting fixed springs like eibach or h&r which give you a fixed drop of say, 1.5", you can buy coilovers (either ground control ~$400 or cattman~$1500). The coilovers let you drop the car as much as you want. The advantages are obvious. The difference between the cattman and GC coilovers are that the GC are just the coilovers - you have to get your own shocks (and to be honest - no good shocks are out for the max right now... koni's are the best but they're a ***** to install). cattmans coilover system includes its own great shocks (kyb i think). If you have the money - cattman is the way to go.

Coilovers are literally a racing suspension. A proper, complete coilover set has: camber plates, adjustable shocks, adjustable spring perches, replacement bump stops and interchangable springs.
They can be height adjusted using the spring perches which can go up and down on the body of the shock. Interchangeable springs are what they sound like- they are usually a 2.5" diameter spring available from numerous companies in various lengths and spring rates so the best one for your application can be found. Camber plates allow the alignment of your car to be adjusted as needed.
Everything is designed to work together, so your shocks can handle the spring rates used (usually much higher than stock, which is why using stock shocks with coilovers that allow such use is a BAD idea) and proper spring rates can be sold with the coilovers.
(e.g.: Cattman coilovers are usually sold with 375lb springs. This is roughly TRIPLE the stock spring rate. Stock shocks or even moderately stiffer replacements such as Tokico blues will die ugly deaths while shaking your butt around like crazy because they were mean to handle ~100lb spring rates, not 375lb!)
This is a very, very basic explaination. Sport Compact Car magazine has an article than explains more. I'd also check http://www.truechoice.com -- they sell coilovers and should have a guide somewhere.
