Can you also take side by side pics with the stock muffler. I'd just like to see how much larger the Apexi muffler is that the stock one.

Thanks

Just a tip....

When you get it installed get the hanger bushings/isolaters replaced. I didn't and it was rattling and banging in turns and over bumps. The old bushings had gotten very soft, and the WS is heavier than stock, if i am not mistaken. I replaced the rear two yesterday and is has made all the difference. I would have replaced all 4 but I only had 3 and one of them were too soft to me. I will replace the other 2 soon. When you do, make sure to get the stiffest ones u can find.

I am? Why's that?

Right now I am not planning on having the rear O2 sensor installed. The sensor is shot, so I'm going to worry about that at a later date.

Other than that there is nothing that I can't do myself, or is there?

There is no guarantee that his shop will replace the bushings for him....mine didn't. Just keep the bushings in mind.

Ah. Yeah, its shorter than stock but I am not going to worry about that. I guess you could get it fixed with custom work, but I like the way that it looks slightly tucked (like blue's).

The only custom thing that you should get done is a hole drilled for a rear O2 sensor, but I am not going to do that until I get a new sensor from Nissan.

Don't think this is a good idea. If the tip is too far back the exhaust heat might melt the bumper, or at least cause it to turn black from the fumes.

Here is a pic on blue's car:

It's not really recessed that much, more flush than other mufflers...

Here is the Stillen Muffler on my car:

Warning, its a big pic!

I don't really like the way the muffler sticks out on my car, where on blue's it looks flush. I like that look a lot better!

Oh ok, I thought the muffler would sit further back. Hopefully everything will be ok. Why not find out how much it would cost to extend it a little, don't think it would be too much.

Maybe. I want to get it installed, and if I think it needs to be extended then I will. If it looks as good as blue's then I'll just leave it.

I had Dallas from Warpspeed install mine, they had to do some custom work to make it fit right (B-pipe did not fit right. They were worried that driving from Ark to Texas (12 hours of driving) it would burm the paint, but it did not. His suggestion was cut it at the tip and weld a longer piece in.... They did intall the o2 sensor, and that was easy, but I would recommend getting the proper mount for the sensor before you mount it.
Blue, how did you get yours to fit so flush? That looks nice....

How did the B-Pipe not fit right? Just the fact that the muffler is shorter than the stock one?

I think he's talking about it being under the bumper. The 95-96 bumper is slightly shorter than the 97+ that's why it's at the edge of the bumper.

FYI: the HKS exhaust was also short, and many people put it on 97+ maxima's with no problems even in the long run.

So the apexi WS CAN fit on a 97+, just not as nice as on the 95-96 maxima

The fittment of the flanges was a little off, it would have worked, but possibly leaked some. They made a custom section of pipe to connect the two pieces, I'll try to get some pics soon. Overall I think the Apex fits well, I wish I could get mine to look like Blue's.... I may do what I mentioned earlier (extend the tip), or try new hangers (mine also sits a litle low) for better fit.
The exhaust is great, and the check engine light is not on.

Mine's a '96, but check out my homepage or profile for a pic of the Apexi exhaust. It's a great exhaust IMO. Very quiet, even with a y-pipe. Very "sleeper" like sound, none of the raspy riceboy fart sounds. Although, this is a bit of droning to it.

Those of you with this exhaust, check out this thread and let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!
