Well, on my way to work this morning I got in another accident, one day short of three months since my last one.

I was sitting at a red light in a 4 lane road waiting to go straight. As my light turned green someone coming from the cross road on my right decided to drift through the red light and make a rolling right on red, only really slow. No big deal.

He turns into the left most lane (tisk tisk!) so again, no big deal, I just plan on staying in my lane on the right and pass him. Then, for some reason he decided to switch into my lane, without a blinker, and hits me, pinching me between his truck and the curb.

Thankfully nobody was hurt. The cop sounded like he thought it was the other guys fault 'cause he turned right into the left lane, which we all know is a no no.

The car is not drivable...and had to be flatbeded out of there...what a sad sight. Here a rundown of the damage:

- Front drivers quarter, mangled
- Both driver side doors, scrapped real bad. Need to be repainted.
- Front driver side tire is blown
- Both front wheels are badly scrapped and maybe bent, I am 99% sure at least 1 will need to be replaced.
- Something with the suspension? The front driver side wheel seemed to be sitting at a strange angle after the accident, but I couldn't tell if it was because of the suspension or the tire deflating...

I am going to the shop that it was flatbedded to around 4...once I get my rental car (I was given a choice of a Cavilear, Malibu or Grand Am)...I will take pictures and find out more then.

This just sucks...

aw dang

This is bad, but at least you are okay.
Crap, everyone put your cars into garages, driveways or safe parking spots and hitch a ride until the end of the month or use another car. We've had too dang many accidents this month.

And to think this happened to an actual Maxima. At "Bare Bones" GXE 5-speed in NEPTUNE BLUE!

Oh, the humanity of it all!

Tell me about it. Although, she'll get another fresh coat of that wonderful Neptune Blue paint on the driver side...its third!

Well, I just got my rental car. The same 2k1 Malibu that I was driving before...what a boring car! At least its not a Neon or a Metro.

Well, i can say it was a lucky month for me. Yesterday I was driving a little fast down my street and the police set up a speed trap and just wave for me to slow down. Later on, I went to the ATM to pull out $40 and $60 came out.

Sorry dude... the only difference in damages to our car is that my tires are fine, rims not bent (miraculously). I'm glad you're ok and no one was injured from the incident.

As for the strange angle on your front driver side wheel, it might be that your lower control arm bent.

This is me

Good luck with the repairs...

Thanks! It must have just been the fact that the tire was flat, because the control arm is fine. The tie-rods aren't but the control arm looks to be in good shape.

Woo Hoo!

Sorry to bring an old thread back up, but I just found out today (yes, nearly 7 months after the accident) that my insurance company won the arbitration case against the guy that hit me and he was found to be 100% at fault!

I get my $650 back

I knew that someone would think that. Nope, just the two on the old car. This one is still safe and sound.

No kidding. I had given up on the idea that I would get my money back. I fought with progressive because they tried to add 3 points to my record for the accident. I told them "look, every single person that I've spoken too in your company does not think I was at all at fault, yet you're charging me like I am."

So, just last week they removed the three points from my policy, and then I get this call yesterday.

I guess it was a pretty cut and dry thing, but All-State (the other guys insurance) just wouldn't bite, and made progressive go through all the hoops to get all their money (which in the end was pretty damn close to $5000). Thanksfully Progressive followed through.

I had an accident after 2 weeks of owning my car and I put my insurance company thru hell. I called everyday and I called the other guys insurance company to ask why he hadn't contacted my insurance company. The other party lied about the accident and I really got ****ed. I ran out an took pictures of the area and gave descriptions of each picture in detail. My pics matched up with the investigators pics and I won the case, all within a month.

Mine wasn't quite that simple. There was a police report, but then the guy told his insurnace company a whole bunch of stuff that didn't really happen and that the police report didn't mention. He insisted I was speeding. My insurance company went to the scene of the accident and measured the skid marks that I left, and based on some widly accepted forumla that they have, calculated my speed to be about 28 in a 35.

For some reason All-State didn't believe us or the police report, and made us drag them through the arbitration process.

Its a pain, but it all worked out.

There was a lot of stuff I don't have time to explain right now but I wasn't in a good mood for a couple of weeks. Mainly what happened was I was driving in the right lane of a 2 lane road and I happened to be going a little faster than the guy I hit (he was in the left lane). He was about 1 carlength ahead of me and I noticed he was driving kind of slow for the area and he decided he was going to make a right turn from the left lane, therefore, I ran into him because my wheels locked up. He told my insurance that I was trying to pass him on his right side and that we were on a 1 lane street. My pictures proved different though.

Wow, glad you proved him wrong.

Makes you wonder what goes through some people's heads.
