first autox with coilovers
Whee, what fun! I came in like 8th out of 11... Keep in mind it's all driver fault (well, I blame my tires too, time to get some race tires), and the fact that STS sucks now. Early this season there was no one in STS, just like 1 4 door altima. After getting my butt kicked in DSP I decided to hop to STS. Seems like everyone had the same idea. Last race in STS I did pretty good, this time the cars I raced against were ones I'd not raced before and they had some badass cars. Of course I question some of them, seeing as STS is supposed to be a place for sedan based cars to compete, it seems to defeat the purpose to allow some of the cars there. There was even a crx in STS today, and I know that's not allowed, and there were 3 preludes, which I'm 99% sure is not allowed... And no matter where I go I can't get away from the freakin' neons.
Ok, enough whining... First thing, people notice. No one hardley ever said anything about my car before, now with the drop a lot more people were checking it out... Cool... Anyway, the car handles so much better. No more horrible understeer, overall understeer is very slight and in most non sudden movements I get more of a neutral drift. Sweet. The car corners flat and stable, and it's much more predictable. The thing that impressed me is how much easier the car is to drive fast now that the front end doesn't plow all over the place. Of course, it made me realize my SP5000's are being asked a bit too much of them as they squeel and slide all over the place. Have to get some race tires now... Although, after it started pouring rain I did some decent times driving the course in 1" of standing water...
oooo.. nice.
this past weekend, i went out onto the track with toks n eibachs, and they were really good. but i still had alot of roll that i could feel..
hmm.. maybe Catt's Coilovers are the next move.
how low did u have it? and what dampening settings are you on? did u know you can get the longer/stiffer springs for the cattman unit?
i heard from Skimax they make it even better..
