depressing (warranty)
I just got off the phone with a friend that has an Olds Intrigue. yeah, yeah.. raving hunk... but get this. He takes his car in for warranty at 34000 miles and asks them to check it out before he runs out of warranty. He called me because they are keeping it for an extra day (was supposed to meet me at our office). Why? well, they are giving him new rotors for free (at 30K!!) and they found some gunk in the coolant so they are gonna flush it and replace something. They also looked up and preformed every TSB that the car had not had done.
What no arguing? no b*tchin on a bbs? No printing TSBs off the internet? No needing a friggen support group to calm you down after a service visit? No arguing with the service manager?
Sure his resale drops like a rock (he got it used, the previous owner lost almost $700 per month in depreciation). But still... I was shocked. This other guy here with a dodge just had a similar experience. he found a broken manifold at 38000. they went ahead and did the work for free.
Geez, I paid for an extended "gold" warranty and I feel like I'm in the cheap seats everytime I go in.
whatever...

ahh good old nissan warranty. I've had to take my car in I think soem 3 times now in the short two years of ownership. Luckly they have not been actual mechanical problems. Since they coudln't find anyting to blame, they acutally fixed it without much problems. Oh well... time for nissan to get their act together I guess.

maybe
I was wondering about doing this sometime back--but I never really had the time/ nor support to do it...but hey for once--maybe if Nissan was so interested in getting new customers and retaining the ones who have had their car--maybe we can write them a nice letter. The *nice* is out of sarcasm.
I have taken my car to the Nissan dealer and yes, I think their service can improve, and it is so funny that they haev these awards hanging all over the place at each and every dealership service dept. claiming they are the numero uno (#1) in service. I usually just *sigh* and pray it doesn't cost an arm and leg.
I think Nissan is pretty down there in the bottom of the barrel in terms of customer service overall...
hey, I'll write the letter--mind if you guys sign on to the list of names?
thanks

thanks Ant--
I'd appreciate the vote of confidence
hey, with your and my signature we have two names to start the list.
I'd tell you, Nissan has one of the worst services rated. And the funny thing is they show you these commercials with these incredibly fast cars--only now--the quality other than the engine pretty much sucks.
Like I said the other day to my friend, it'd be nice if they can get the type of quality they spent on the engine, and spread that around all over the car some--and I tell you--this new baby would be something...
however, one can only hope.

Can't augue much with you dudes on this one. I had my car for a year and the molding on my sunroof was beginning to decompose a bit around the edges. I could not believe they not only told me it was not covered, but that to fix it would require an entirely new sunroof window (at a cost of 500 bucks for the part.) Needless to say I don't think this should happen on a year old car. I'm waiting till I feel raindrops falling on my head before I'll throw at 500
