2002 Altima already kicking butt...
hmmmm I think Maxima.org will have to watch out after the Maxima morphs into the Avalon fighter... we'll have people asking which child seat is best, and what model rides best, and ... *shudder* the future is dim my friends

Say it isn't so!
yup, from what I've heard that is gona be the scenario, the Altima obviously slots into the Maxima's market, and the Maxima has no place to except bigger. I have heard rumors of RWD, but it doesnt seem too logical as they can just stretch the Altima platform just like how the Avalon is based on the old Camry platform. Why have a RWD car in that class? This will go down after 2003... then I think we should cater to '02 Altimas as we do Maximas. but 'Altima' doesnt have the same ring as 'Maxima'

I whould be very surprised if the new maxima{2004} is slower then the 02 Altima.
I am sure the new maxima will impress us in almost every way except for pricing
. This stuff is of course only my opinion, but I am usualy right
.
i was talking to a dealer and he was saying that the 03 max might have it where you can switch from FWD to RWD if i understood him right... he also was explaining the braking system on the altima how the back brakes help keep the car from nose diving when you hit the brakes... this is good when hitting a turn fast, the back end isnt raised which would make the back tires kick out easier.... he seemed pretty knowledgeable about the cars
I hope you're right emax!! Just what I read in Motortrend usually is right and well,
(in a nazel voice) in terms of marketing and the demographics of the competition, the prospect of a RWD Maxima is hiiiighly unlikely thank you very much

Do you guys think they will offer a 5-spd tranny on the "bigger" maxima when the 6th generation comes out? If it moves up in class, I cannot see it happening... what the hell is the point? I don't think there will be many 5-spd buyers of a big car like that. So expect the new Altima to be the future of nissan *** kicking sedan. Which is really a shame, they should have made the altima skip a size and become a Large sedan. The Maxima name is just too cool
