Whats the difference b/w Autometer EGT guage and Pyrometer guage?

Hey,

Anyone know the difference? They seem to both go up to 1600 degrees, and its seems like the pyrometer comes with the whole probe kit, etc, where the EGT guage does not. I'm looking to monitor my exhaust gas temp, and I wasn't sure which one to get.

Not that I dont have enough guages now....hehehe

same thing essentially. a pyrometer is just a more general temperature gauge, whereas the EGT gauge says "exhaust temp" on the gauge... they would accomplish the same thing. so whichever is less expensive. you have to buy the temperature probe separate on the EGT gauge i think.

Autometer gauges are pretty much junk, once you buy the sending unit and such, you can get a GReddy EGT gauge with the probe for just a few bucks more. Last time I looked, it was going to be like $176 for the Autometer gauge + sending unit or $188 for the GReddy gauge that included the sending unit.
