need help with interior neons...

okay, i did a search, and everyone who said to use the cigarette lighter said to use the red and black wires. well, i don't have red and black wires. i have an orange/blue stripe, and a black.

so this is what i did:

i figured i'd make the black = black, and the orange/blue = red.

clee130 posted this:
Usually, it's: red=power, black=ground

On the neon, the black wire=power, black wire with white strip=negative... at least that what I used.
so i hooked up the black wires from the neons to the orange wire, and the black/white wires from the neons to the black wire on the cig. lighter.

but its not working... what am i doing wrong?

Re: need help with interior neons...

did you try it the other way? if it did not work in the one configuration, try the other one.

Wow ... someone quoted me ... I feel sppppeeeeeccciiiaaaallll...

Ok ... in all seriousness... it should work, and if you're tapping into the cig lighter, do like t2000j suggested and turn your key to the ACC or ON position. The cig lighter only works when the car is turned on I believe.
