What kind of gas for Nitrous?

I was reading that for nitrous, the car should have 92+ octane gas in it. Where I live in wonderful california, we only have 91 octane gas. Will this cause problems?

I would just check my plugs a little more carefully as lower octane gas will be more prone to detination.

I would run the highest octane you can get. Running lower octane w/ NOS can cause some server knocking. Maybe even lead to bent valves.

If you only plan on using NOS on teh strip, get some octane booster. If you just plan on using it whenever, 91 should be fine.

So I should buy octane booster in the store. So pushing it on the track and street means what? How much of an octane boost is it and will jet fuel ruin my engine?

In New Zealand you can go to an airfeild and buy aviation fuel, but you have to sign a declaration to say your not using it on the road. It makes a distinc smell when burnt through an engine and it burns quite cold compared to petrol and wont pink unless you iming is so far advanced its not funny.

Nope, won't hurt. Just make sure if you do use it often, you check your plugs for any signs of wear and tear. (Detonation).

ya i would, if you need a new head gasket anyway because this will blow it with that much nos.

Glad near me we get 93 so it is a little less scary if I go the NOS route ... someday.

the octane booster that NOS sells in the silver bottle gives 4-7 octane points and contains nitromethane. that means if you started out with 93 octane, you'll get 93.4 to 93.7 octane after that bottle.

So basically I have no hope of getting 93 or better octane in my car. Crap!! Who wants a NOS Kit?

how big of a shot are you planning on running. whenever you plan on using the nos just dump a thing of octace booster in your tank when you fill up. you will get close to 92 with a good booster then try and see if you detonate. you'll be ok.

Who ever said you had to use 93 or better? I use 92 all day, everyday, even at the track, with no probs. 91 with a good octane booster and you'll be fine. What do you think everyone else around you does?

NOS recommends 92 or better and with 91 and a good booster you will be all set.

I still think 92 or 93 with the silver NOS booster. It is proven to add at the most 2-3 hp until the end of the tank. It just helps with NOS. I only run it with a 1/2 tank.
