How is the Altima selling??

Is there any website that lists how specific models are selling?
All the ones I have seen so far are numbers for a whole brand.
The thing that disturbs me is the so far in LA I have seen:

2002 Camry: Lost the count
2002 Maxima: Around 4
2002 Altima: Z-E-R-O

No one wants the antidote?

Same here...seen about a zillion 2002 Camrys, but so far, only one 2002 Maxima, and one 2002 Q45...and this is in the San Francisco Bay Area, where these cars should be very common.

And I have yet to see a new Altima on the street.

In my area I've seen only 2 Altima's on the road. My dealer had 5 or more 2K2 Maxima's and has 3 left on the lot. But he had gobs of new Altima's on his lot. You would think that Nissan is phasing out the Max and replacing it with the Altima. A new 3.5 SE Altima stickered for $28,633.

In LA...

I have seen the following:

- >5 2002 Camrys. Better looking than the last generation. These look better than the new ES300.

- 2 2002 Maximas.

- 1 2002 Altima. Red. Nice.

- 3 2002 ES300s. Yuck.

- -0- 2002 I35s.

- 2 2002 Q45s.

That altima is way overpriced in the 3.5 SE version. I dont think its going to sell well at that price range at all. I went to my dealer the other day and one stickered for 30,200! I went over and looked at a 2002 GLE and it was 29,750, something is wrong with that picture. I would never pay that for an Altima. Hell I payed less than that fo rmy fully loaded 2002 MAX SE.

2002 Q45 : 1 (DAMN this car is HOT...lights are purdy!)

2002 Max : None yet (but TONS of 2k/2k1's in Jersey)!

2002 Alti : None yet (but my girlfriend saw one and said it looked hot)!

2002 Lex ES300 : EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! yep, I was one of the new altima fanatics up until the pricing for the 3.5 SE was released (ABS is NOT standard on that model!), and I got to see it. Talk about cheap. I mean, yeah, okay, there are sharp corners on the plastic and stuff, but it would all be acceptable if the V6 wasn't so overpriced or had such poor option/package pricing...
the '02 SE just became more and more attractive for the $$$

Last time I checked both Ramsey Nissan and Bay Ridge Nissan sold 0 Altimas. I've seen about 4 Altima's on the streets, 5 cheapo 2K2 Camry's, 3 2K2 Maxes. As for the Q45, for every one I see around here, there are at least 20 Lexus GS' or BMW 5 Series'.

I could understand why Bay Ridge hasnt sold any since they offered me a 2K2 SE with every option except for Navi and a 2K2 3.5SE Auto with every option except Xenon for the exact same price. *Absolute no brainer, especially after driving and looking at the interior in both*

I don't understand why the price of the Altima and Maxima is so close in the States.

Up here in Canada, there is a big difference. The V6 Altima starts off at $27K and goes up to $33K fully loaded.

The Maxima GLE is $37K. That's a $4K difference, which comes out to be a lot after 15% tax is applied on the 37k.

(33 + 1.5) * 1.15 = $39.68K
(37 + 1.5) * 1.15 = $44.28K

I added the $1500 on top of the MSRP for the extra taxes and stuff like luxury tax, gas tax, ac tax, delivery, etc..

The 1.15 is the 15% sales tax which is applied on top of the other taxes!!!

Heres the sales #'s for the 02 Altima for the month of Sepetember= 10,401. Keep in mind they were really only for sale for a few weeks in Septemeber and the the 9-11 incident did not help any either.

From prnewswire.com: 10401 Altimas sold in Sept '01, but most were 2001 models. Initial sales volumes of the 2002 model were up 21.6% compared to the previous month.

Nissan estimates selling 180,000 copies of the '02, so they'll need to be at 15,000 a month, which is quite an increase from 10500.

I've seen several Altimas and a couple Camrys. No ES300 yet

Re: How is the Altima selling??

I've only seen 1 2002 Altima on the road. The local dealership has only gotten in two '02 Altimas and they have been sitting on the lot for about 3 weeks. Both are 2.5's.

You don't need to look for Camrys. They are everywhere. For the first time in like four years, the Accord outsold the Camry this past year. Civic was the best selling small car too.

I've seen 2 or 3 alti's on the streets here in Omaha. Look nice. I didn't know the pricing was that high on them. I have yet to go to the two big nissan dealerships in the city to see what they got...apparently a friend stopped at one, and they had one 3.5SE (Automatic). But man, I was expecting the sticker to be at $26k fully loaded for a 3.5SE. $26k made sense....$28-30k does not.

As for Camrys/ES300s...if you're going to get a point A to point B car, look at cheaper cars, or at least opt for the cheaper 4-banger Camrys/Accords. My parents, the biggest auto import supporters for a while (we had 3 accords at one time), just bought a new "point A to point B" car, and spent $23 or $24k on an Olds Intrigue. They looked at Maxis, Accords and Camrys before making their decision :/

Re: How is the Altima selling??

Also in SF Bay Area. I've seen about 5 2002 Camrys. 1 2002 Maxima, and 0 2002 Altimas. 0 2002 Q45s except at the dealership. A whole bunch of 2002 TL/TL-S and a about 4 RSXs.

Altima's advertising campaign just started so hopefully it should start selling. Toyota advertised the Camry a lot earlier than Nissan did with the Altima. I saw Camry ads in the inside front cover of many car mags about 2-3 weeks before Nissan stuck the little Altima brochure in car mags.

I haven't seen ANY '02 Altima's on the road in central Florida. Two local dealers lot's are FULL of them. I was just at one last night inquiring about the six speed Max (coming early November) and they had every color/engine combo you could think of. And they had the nerve to MARKUP the v6 1g! I think the v6 is overpriced as it is....too close to the Max. There was one '02 GLE Max on the lot and several '01 Max's

He also stated he has a Sentra V Spec "in transit".

The new Altima isn't the old altima. It's BIGGER than the Maxima and has a larger engine (if you get the 3.5l) than all Maximas except the 2002 Maxima. You can't put it in the same class as previous Altimas.

I have seen 3 so far

The first one I saw was being test driven my a young couple, who brought it later it was Seascape(That's my color) The second was Satin White, it was driven my a middle aged woman, and still had a paper tag. The Third one was Polished Pewter(my other favorite color) it was at the mall yesterday morning, and it looked really nice in the parking lot. All 3 were S models with the Convenience pkg. At the dealership in my area, they can't keep them on the lot, even after the Sept. 11 attacks, everytime I go, they have a new set on the lot.

I have seen about 7 Camrys, everytime I go to Spartanburg I see many of them. I have actually seen the same one twice in one week, all of them LE except one, which was a SEV6 in lunar mist, the SEs look nice, but the LEs are ugly to me. I like the new altima a lot better than the LE and XLE but a little but slightly better than the SE models.

left-hand/right-hand

Altima sounds like the left-hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing

In other words, the engineers were to build a better car for 2002 than 2001. I don't know how long the 2001 was in production but it seemed really dated, even worse than the 4th gen Max. But if the Altima can do a 5.9 0-60 and looks nice, even with a chintzy interior, they did their jobs. If the price is 30 grand fully-loaded, and costs the same as an overpriced 255 hp Maxima, then someone in finance or marketing didn't finish high school.

You can't ride 240 hp to no ends. Acuras have it and cost maybe 2-3 grand more. Jaguar doesn't have that much but obviously is better built, has AWD, and costs a few grand more. Perhaps Nissan will give 6,000 rebates and the 240 hp Altima will move off the lots. Until then, we'll test drive 'em and get our free Kenneth Cole gear!!

Selling A Few

I was at the local Nissan Dealership today for my weekly drool session, and talked to the guy about the Max and Alty. The lot was full of both actually, about 20 of each. He said they have been selling cars despite the recent world events and economy. He said that the Altima is selling pretty well. I haven't seen one on the road yet though, but I have seen 2 Maxs. I was all about the Altima until I got to look at it up close. Its just not as nice looking as the Maxima is, and is definitely priced to rust on the lot. I drove a 01 max leftover last week, but am still waiting for a 5 speed 3.SE, and the six speed max's to come out before driving any 2002's. I'm pretty sure i'll be looking to pick up a leftover 6 speed next summer. Hope they have some left. Anyone know how many 6 speeds will be made?
