my Y-pipe passed emmisions test!

I live in Illinois and every 2 years you have to have your emissions tested on your vehicle. I had mine max done last week, and even with my Cattman y-pipe I passed their "fast-pass" test (cars that mean LEV standards...I think) with flying colors. So anyone who is worried about passing emissions with the y-pipe need not fear anymore!

Do you have a RT cat? what type of muffler do you have, I know the muffler has nothing to do with the emissions test. I was just wondering. Do you have one of the aftermarket B pipes also? thanks

I was chicken

I'm in southern California and took the safe route. I had my car smog checked an hour before I installed the y-pipe.

Most smog shops are not that good at the visual inspection......

I don't have a Y, but I know what shops you guys are talking about. I take my car to a 19.95 smog check place and they just put the sensor in the exhaust, and say "yep, you pass." I swear that they pass everyone.

AnzWontonboy- no they didn't check under the car...but that should matter anyway...

UndercoverMax- I still have my stock CAT, but R/T cat should pass just fine too. If you read in my sig...it says I have the A'PEXi cat-back...

Sprint- I drove it from school which is about 30 minutes away on the highway...so it warmed up plenty

when they check under the car, they look through a mirror, and all they look for is the main cat. Because many cars have different configurations. They don't check for precats... that's why some people gut their cat. But then the car might, maybe still pass emissions but probably barely... I don't know.

I think only in Chicago they ask you for the test. I never heard of getting a test for my car here.

I don't live in Chicago...or even cook County! Are you out in the sticks or something? That could explain it.
