Should I go to a bigger Y pipe for nitrous?

I am going with a 50 shot and I was wondering if I should go with a bigger Y pipe? Is it necessary or will it be fine? Plus if I go with a bigger shot for my 5 spd, what other mods do I need to do to prevent any problems?

If your just running a 50 shot, you should be fine. However, if you get towards the 100 shot area, then you should get 3" full exhuast for maximum power, that's only if you want that. Keep in mind your off the bottle performance will suffer though. As far as other mods with NOS, you should probably upgrade your clutch, and if you plan on going over a 50 shot, get a new fuel pump, EGT, and fuel pressure gauge, as well as a fuel pressure regulator. You could also get a bottle heater, blanket, purge valve, and remote bottle opener. Just some ideas...

well think about how often you'll be on NOS. If you're constantly on NOS then a bigger Y-pipe may help..or if you're going to do a lot of racing. but for day to day a bigger (3") Y-pipe on a NA car will still hurt you.

I'm with him. The amount of time you drive withut the NOS (about 99.95 percent of the time) will be much more pleasant with a 2.5" exhaust.

me too!! My 50shot is GREAT with my 2.5 inch y-pipe and exhaust. High 13s in the 1/4 if I get a good day anytime soon!
