If you odn't mind vibrations etc, then you don't need to use it. But if you like a smooth ride, you should.

Necessary

The purpose of the ring is to have the axle support the wheel, while the bolts hold it on. If the ring is missing, all of the force is transferred to the bolts, which should make the car (at least marginally) less safe.

hmmm.... I have a stupid question.....I remember -->

receiveing mine when a I bought my wheels and never used them......I guess I should install them.

My stupid question is.....do these mount on the inside of the lugs on the hub or the outside of the lugs on the hub?

Re: Necessary

Ah.. the rings will help keep the wheel centered to help reduce vibrations. But considering these rings are either thin plastic or metal, they do not do much for support if any.

They mount on the rim... where the hub would go through.. You should really use them, this could be ther reason why you are having warped rotors left and right.

Hmmm...still lost....

How do you mount these ON the rim......I figured they should go around or inside the lugs ON the hub.....

If you take off your rims, you will see a big hole on the side that mounts to your car. That's where the hub rings go.

BTW this really could be a reason why you are having warped rotors. Because the rims may not be centered right, it will shake and vib.... when you brake... I will cause different pressure on the rotors.

Shing.......sometimes I hate you -->

when you point this stuff out.

THAT'S WHY I'M WARPING ROTORS?

WTF?

Great, now I'm going to have to go home and dig through my attic (thank goodness we haven't been in the house long) and play with my wheels this evening AND continue painting our bedroom....

I really hope I actually have 4 of them, but I'll probably only have 3 or something.

I assume Pepboys/Autozone has these things....

Re: Shing.......sometimes I hate you -->

Let me know if you need some... I have 4 spare ones.

BTW did you know the hub on the maxima is the same as the crx?

As for the rotors warping... tires that arn't balanced could cause tire warpage, so can not torquing the rim down probably... the reason is b/c they all cause shakes. If you don't use hub ring, it will do the shake too. Thus that could be your rotors.

I've been running the Mustang wheels that have a larger hub bore bore for about a year and no warped rotors yet. Bill have you rebuilt your calipers yet? Maybe some of the slide pins are gummy and are putting uneven pressure on the rotor surface?

Are they all the same no matter what aftermarket rims you have?

Reason I ask is because I ordered them from the same company that I bought my wheels from. When I got the things...they didn't fit right..they had to be dremmal tooled down to make them fit right. They were the right part#..size etc. too.
