I put a quart of tranny fluid in last night because it was really low, but when i was driving my car today i noticed that the shifting was really hard, and seemed to hesitate at times. My RPMs where at 500 at a full stop and anytime i was braking 20MPH and below, I don't think that's normal, and the car feels really sluggish..

The problem started last night where i had no power.. and when i put in the tranny fluid it felt better, but many times today when i came to a stoplight the car would rev and hesitate to go forward and then LURCH forward!!!.. didn't feel good at all and i know that it can't be good on the engine.. Oil was last serviced 1800 miles ago and it is fine, and tranny fluid was checked and filled last night.

Could it be the tranny fluid taking its time running through the system or is my transmission going?? Or something else??

1998 GLE Automatic with 42,200 miles on it.

 

This sounds like classic failure... the revving in gear and going nowhere. Luckily, you're still under 60k powertrain warranty - go get that sucker checked and (most likely) replaced at the dealer.

 

haven't i voided warranty by putting on the ypipe/intake/exhaust??

I really hate nissan and it's 75$ to look.. and if it is just the fluid running it's course that a huge waste..

Would a tranny cooler help this problem????
