Just bought a 97SE......

Superblack, 5 Speed, mint tan power leather, moonroof, digital climate control, BOSE, tinted windows. One non smoking owner from Georgia, car has 56K miles. The reason why I even considered a 5 spd in NYC is because I'm still holding on to my 94GXE as its been absolutely bullet proof. Now, I just drove the car back to NYC 1200 miles from Palm Beach, Florida. On the highway and during normal driving, I couldnt be happier as its considerably faster and much more fun to drive, but the couple of times I got caught up in some bumper to bumper traffic, I started seriously thinking I mightve made a mistake( Size 16 shoes dont help either as the left foot tends to get stuck while letting out the clutch depending on the position.). However, I'm a bit rusty(3 years since having my first car in 5 spd) and we'll see what happens in the next few days. For now, I'm enjoying myself either way.

Craig, dont take this the wrong way. Yes I couldve had the 95 for a lot cheaper, and yes, supposedly its the fastest, but that doesnt change the hideous tails, grille, dull paint, ugly stock rims and different bumpers. It usually takes Nissan two years to get a generation of a model to look perfect.

BTW, Sprint

I'm the guy to who you promised to post a picture of someone that is no longer with the org, that was a while back, see what you can do or at least e-mail it to me since I'm still dying to see it.

Oh and I was trying to find the run down on what you said you do while in traffic w/ your 5spd but couldnt, so maybe you could give me a quick run down to make my life a bit easier.

Cooler,
If its a car in clean condition and hasnt been stolen or vandalized then you could easily ask $13K firm or 14K neg. Basically when you open up a Car Buyers Market or Buylines, anything that looks even like a decent price for a fully loaded 97 SE means the Maxima has had a salvage title, was a theft recovery, got into an accident of some sort, etc.($10-$12K).

BTW, are your GF's plates "Kracotka" by any chance?

my traffic remedy

if traffic is moving at 5 mph..

turn the AC on.. put the car in first gear and slowly get off the clutch.. the AC brings the rpm's up to 800 / 1000 rpm's .. enough to let the car roll without clutch action

if traffic is moving at 10 mph

use same method with 2nd gear..

Sprint, that sounds good, cause yesterday it was a bit weird while stuck in traffic, I kept taking off at like 2K+ RPM in 1st, then having to stop right away and do it over again, I'm just not used to the car yet.

I definitely need someone to teach me aggresive/performance oriented stick driving at the Woodbury meet. I'm pretty sure I keep letting the clutch out too slowly.

I respectably but FIRMLY disagree with you. Personally, I like the grill, the curved tails, the spaced out M A X I M A.

However, I will agree that the bumper is a bit cheep, and that the paint blows.

Yep, well I told you how I feel since I couldve saved myself about $3K if I went for a 95 but I just wouldnt be happy with it. I also left out crystalized headlights. However, if you take a 95-96 like "Confused" or "Max96SE", they are flawless in my eyes, so with a few touches anything is possible.

Nyce, thanks for the kind words and yes, the paint is the worst I've ever seen on the 95-96 Maxes.

Cooler, sorry, I mixed you up with "Max2000" who asked me on the first page how much he and his GF should ask for her fully loaded 97SE. It was real late at night when I read that post.
