Out with the old, in with the new

I love the Maxima. Even with a salvage (flood) title and a massive dent in the rear quarter I still got close to $2000 for my 96 GXE. Went in search of an 05 Smoke SE but it sold before I could get within 50 miles of it. Ended up with an 07 Precision Gray SE with black leather/suede interior. I am not fond of CVT technology but it makes for a very smooth commute and I think I got a decent deal on the car. New to me, 18k miles on it. Interior is mint but there are a few rocks chips hopefully indicating highway miles. Engine bay is very clean and after removing the inch thick goop the Nissan service guys put on its looks nice all around.
Compared to the old car with its non-functioning climate control, click click clickity cd non-player and Katrina smell, it is a Mercedes to me. I got the extended warranty since I barely have time to work on the autocross machine. You guys will probably think me crazy, but the Max sleeps outside while the '02 Dakota rests in the garage/shop. Here are a few pics.

I'm more familiar with HTML, so please excuse the pic size and if this post is in the wrong section, apology in advance.

Lift? That's 4wd Torgus ;-) Truck has full Hotchkis suspension, Viper 6 speed, 13" Viper brakes at all 4 corners and several performance mods to the SOHC V8. I love to make the Rustangs cry at the autocross. Flat spotted a slick sunday, might give the Max a try next month. Pray for the RSA's.
Thanks guys, I wish I had more room in the garage that's for sure. It sux to spend the afternoon washing and waxing only to come out to find the lawn crew throwing dirt and leaves all over from next door.

Cool, that's what we call my friends dog as well. When it comes to animals and females, you want the least number of syllable's as possible, lol. We had a lot of time to think on the drive from L.A. to Houston when I bought the truck, so that decal chop was one of them. After the dog of course. Thanks, I took my first trip other than a commute in the car last night. Was so much easier to get from A to B than my old hoopty and man is this thing fast on the highway. Got to play with a Charger R/T. Under the speed limit of course.
Excellent choice.
I think the '07 is a fine Maxima. With the '07, Nissan moved the fog lights down where they should have been in '04-'06, and took most of the chrome off the grille. The '07 also brought interior improvments, as well as a flat blackened strip across the bottom of the back bumper which reduces the bulbous look of the 6th gen rear end. The '07 is also the first Maxima with the tire pressure monitoring system.
Most Maxima lovers are iffy at best with the CVT. I feel differently. I have been convinced from day one that, if they ever get the CVT (and associated control software) perfected, it WILL not only outperform any auto, it SHOULD eventually outperform a manual tranny in normal driving situations. The laws of physics mandate that with EVERY shift in ANY tranny there is a fraction of a second with no accelleration. That is a fraction of a second off elapsed time.
Of course there are many Maxima drivers who enjoy driving much more with a manual tranny (were I not usually bogged down in gridlock, I would prefer a manual), and some driving conditions (such as mountainous areas or long grades) where a human is able to anticipate road grades/curves/etc ahead and hence has better control with a manual than with either an auto or CVT. But manufacturers go for the masses, and I fear for any future of the manual in the Maxima.
I feel you chose an excellent (and beautiful) vehicle. Good luck!
