Next new Maxima to come in 2004, not 2003....
#8
Yeah..what I heard is the all new Maxima will sport
rear wheel drive and a V8...Nissan salesman told me this.
Can't really believe anything a salesman says..BUT it does
fall in line with a step above the new Altima and should be
faster...Nissan must do something...who will buy a new Maxima
with the new Altima being faster and having more interior room
than the current Maxima...One thing that has me wondering is
what V8 would they use...the Q's 340HP ????..maybe detuned
slightly to around 300 or 315HP ?????....They must have something
up there sleeve to allow the Maxima regain its flagship state
for the Nissan badge....
Sure is worth thinking about !!!!!!

The below excerpt from "Speech text for Carlos Ghosn on "NRP 2nd Anniversary Update and First Half FY 01 Earnings Preview, Oct 18, 2001"
"In the United States, our product launch intensity will also be high. Three new Nissans will be launched, including the much-awaited Z car in August. We will follow in the second half with a crossover SUV and in early calendar year 2003 with the all-new Maxima."

Right, which is what I said above -- 2004 launched in 2003?

Re: Re: Next new Maxima to come in 2004, not 2003....
Early Calendar year 2003 may mean the launch of a 2004 model. When was the last time a model was launched and it was named for that year?? Hardly ever. The 4th and 5th gens were both launched in June of the model year it succeeded (4th in 1994, 5th in 1999).
As for the claims of 300+hp, at the rate horsepower is increasing nowadays, I would not doubt that Nissan will add more hp to their model line in the future too.

I'm thinking that it would take a V8 with 300+ HP and probably a 6spd to pull me out of my SC'd 95SE. I'd also like the price to be under $30k and YES, I would like fries with that.
