410 bhp Maxima Engine!!!
I just wanted to pass this on...read further down the article about the 410 bhp Nissan Maxima V6 engine...I want one...how can I get one(yeah, yeah, I know, in my dreams)...hmmm I might have to petition Speedvision to carry the Formula Nissan races maybe???
What do you boys think?
Subject: New high-tech car for Open Telefonica series
www.crash.net
The new Dallara single-seater that will replace the chassis currently used in the Open Telefonice series - also known as Formula Nissan - has been revealed by Dallara and the series organisers. The high-tech chassis will give lap times quicker than a Formula 3000 car - and feature ground-effects aerodynamics and Formula 1 level safety standards.
The Open Telefonica championship has run since 1998, mainly featuring races in Southern Europe, and has brought to prominence drivers such as Marc Gene and Fernando Alonso. The current Coloni chassis uses a two-litre turbo-charged Nissan engine - producing around 250bhp - and has proved very successful in producing close, exciting racing on a reasonable budget.
The new Super Nissan Dallara V6 chassis will use a version of Nissan's Maxima V6 engine, delivering 410bhp, and again the series will be structured to promote driver development - current races featuring compulsory pit-stops to teach drivers that discipline prior to Formula One.
It is intended that only 20 chassis will be produced, with ten already having been ordered by current Open Telefonica teams - GD Racing (Italy), Adrian Campos Motorsport (Spain), Vergani Racing (Italy), Epsilon by Graff (France), and RC Motorsport (Italy).

The Maxima engine was already used in Le Mans and one won in its class. The chassis was by Renault I think.
Also, remember the VQ was orginally developed to be used in the German Touring Car Championship, but Nissan scrapped the plans for it and decided to use the engine in its consumer cars.
I got this info from the .Org actually, it was posted a while back.

I just would like to see all that n/a power to made available to us street people. I may not be able to afford the titanium valvetrain but aggressive cams is a possibility. Since we already have the basic form of the engine under our hoods, then there shouldn't be lack of quality go fast parts for the VQ motor.

Did I read your sig correctly? You pulled a 14.45 with a y-pipe and cone intake only?

Well, if that time is indeed correct, congrats to the driver because he is driving almost perfect, with an almost perfect car. I don't think he has any room for improvement in his car, with his current mods. My hats off to you!

Try looking in European sites...

Another reason is that they have used NA SR20DEs in the BTCC(British Touring Car Championship) Primeras(G20) that push out 300hp. It's possible to really bost up an NA street SR20DE with some of those European parts. There's a possibility that you could do the same with a VQ, if the parts are sold to the public.
I thought that our stock VQs run a 10:1 CR. Will upping it to just 11:1 really make enough of a difference? There's stroked Hondas(Imagine a 2.4L B-series Integra engine!) running around with 15:1 CRs in racing trim, and around 12:1 in street mode.
