there is a diffference between rally and rallycross....

In open rally, the AWD cars tend to have an advantage. Rallycross, though, have many track designs that favor a FWD car - to be completely honest.

Check out SCCA results and you'll see that in certain events, a civic hatchback can destroy an STi at rallycross....

BTW, even stage rally events have FWD classes...
