If you could do anything, performance wise and with money being no object, to any year maxima what would you do? I know there must be millions of ideas amongst the many collective maximaniacs and I was just curious. Honest.

Twin Turbo and NOS??? Damn, how much hp at the wheels would you expect to get? I'm thinking... bore out the VQ to 3.5, bigger pistons, fuel pump, advanced timing, etc. then add twin turbo and how much NOS, 150 shot maybe? Could a twin turbo work with that much NOS? I have no idea. What's the lowest ET 1/4 time you think you could get a max to go?

well, if Don hit 12s, and we would have unlimited budget, I would think that you could hit 11s, especially if the max was turbocharged. Just turn the boost up and add the nitrous.

Theres no sub for displacement, as we know. If money aint a thang, sheet, stick a turbine on there.

 

i'd take a 3rd gen, bmw lights w/xenon corners, headlights, fogs (hey, thats light performance).
then i'd lower it with eibach and koni reds, for the engine, i'd take a VQ30DE out of a 2k/2k1 max, bore it out to say 3.2-3.5L somewhere in there. JDM/stage 3 cams, pistons, rods, lightened everything, twin turbo, since i believe the JDM cefiros that are like the 3rd gen max's are RWD, i'd hybrid that driveline with a getrag 6 speed via supraTT, ACT stage 3 clutch, UR flywheel, UDP, nitrous setup like tony C's (1max2nv) except in 2 stages. 1 to help the turbos spool, then another incase i'm loosing to an F1 car. i'd also have 19" rims that weighed 20lbs each w/tires. i'd have real headers, real dual exhaust, no emissions and foglights under the spoiler for the bastards who tailgate me.
oh and since money is no object i'd have all the body panels replaced with carbon fiber because its light.

 

madmax, is that just off the top of your head or have you been thinking for awhile? You could always just throw in a Skyline-GTR engine there and mod the hell outta it. Or since the budget is unlimited, just buy a GT-R. But thats not the question.

jw, The question is what would you do to a maxima. I said with unlimited budget, I would just buy a GT-R, not what I would do to a max. Sorry for the confusion.

-have those bolt on's that are not available made...

I would have a 94 SE 5 speed with a Twin Turbo Z motor. And mod the hell out of it.

 

i would remove the engine and put custom system up there (need weight up front for whats coming), on the roof would be a pair of huge intakes that lead into the trunk were my jet engine would be...

Wow! You guys are all going super cheap, relativly speaking. Here's what I ALWAYS daydream about...

VQ30DE engine destroked to 2.6 litres, JE 8:1 forged pistons, Eagle forged rods, knifedged crank, cryofreeze the block, micropolish everything, heat/friction coat internals, Portflow 5 angle head job, oversized valves, titanium retainers and valve springs, custom ground Comp cams for turbo, balance and blueprint.

turbonetics t4 turbo, tial wastegate, hks BOV, apexi intercooler

place racing engine mounts, fluidyne radiator, (can't remember manufactor of clutch), getrag 6 speed tranny, quaife LSD, RC 720cc injectors, stand alone engine managment.

I'm forgetting a lot of stuff that I want. That's a small list, pushing mid-high 400hp with a 9k redline. Wouldn't be a drag car though, I'd autocross/street race it.

 

my idea would still whoop your ****, i could be running with and f16, now that would be fun

 

OK, how about within reason? I'm sure if we equipped wings to that and added some bombs we could all help out in Afghanistan. Maximas to the rescue!

 

how about a fully built supra engine, then strapping on a t4 turbo, and running 1000 plus, thats somewhat reasonable

 

Buy all the body parts off a 1999 Maxima new or used. Buy a used 4 door Skyline. Make all those body parts from the maxim fit on the skyline.
