wipers with new windshield

i had my windshield replaced yesterday and i heard that you should get new wiper blades when getting a new windshield. supposedly the wiper blades form to your windshield and if using the old ones on the new windshield, they could scratch your new windshield. ive never heard of tis before but i wanted to know if its true or not

The wipers will definitely conform to any imperfections on the windshield, so it is a godd idea to get new ones to eliminate streaking. I don't know about scratching, but it makes sense.

Just buy new ones. They will indeed conform, and it's not like wiper blades are expensive

I would suggest rain x blades. www.rainx.com/offer...best deal going and you'll love the outcome.

yeah, it's pretty bad.

i own an auto glass business. we always recommend to our customers to get new blades if the car is older than 2 years simply for the fact that they just shelled out $200-$500 for a new windshield, and it's stupid to let a $8 set of wiper blades scratch it.

old, worn blades will scratch a new glass. "conform" to it? don't know much about that train of thought.

What I mean by 'conform' is that the blades will wear and match impurities on the windshield. If their is a small pinhole chip, the blade will develop a nick there as it rubs across that chip. What else would you call that but conform or match the profile?

well, if the blade gets knicked, then that would be the opposite of conform.

con·form--transitive verb: to give the same shape, outline, or contour to;

Some one doesn't want to be wrong.....

I bought new wipers for my 240 when I got the new windshield. I definitely didn't want the old blades putting surface scratches on my new glass. The PO of my 240 let the passenger side wiper get down to the metal and pretty much ruined that side. How your that broke IDK but it was retarded....

why risk putting old blades on a new windshield. protect your investment with new blades...should be a no-brainer
