G35 at CAL POLY POMONA!!!!!

I came to school today and there is a G35 haveing a photo shoot in front of the CLA building!!! its silver with I think 17's. I chatted with the photographers for a minute but they just confirmed that it was the new G35 but didint know much else. They said the Infinity Tech guys were not there yet. Damn, i wish i had a camara. I can say that it is much better looking than the 02 maxima or altima. Im considaring this car over a 03 Z now, its that nice. Come see if you can!!!!!
John.

...that it's size would fall somewhere between the Maxima and Sentra. It's supposed to compete with the BMW 3-series, Lexus IS, Audi A4, MB C-class and Jaguar x-type so it should be about their size.

It's sized more like the GS and 5 series. It has a real long wheel base, I think 109 inches. nissannews.com has the measurments I think.

I didnt get close enough to see the inside cause they were taking picts of it. All i could see was that its black. I would say its roughly the same size as a max. MUCH nicer looking.

The wheel base is longer than the current Maximas, but the overall length is shorter than the current Maximas. You can get the specific numbers over at the FreshAlloy forums.

What does this translate to?

Well, consider the following:

1) Fully independent suspension (I believe derived from R34).
2) 52/48 weight distrubution (5th Gen. Max is 61/39!).
3) Long wheelbase.

This amounts to a car that should handle as well as any BMW, Lexus, MB, and so on. This car has been designed with sportiness in mind. Certainly, it sucks that it doesn't have the amount of HP that I expected, but I cannot deny that the 3.5 @ 255 pulls hard (just wish it was @280 or 300 ).

I've also seen pictures of the engine comparment which clearly show a factory installed FSTB which should further enhance the overall handling capabilities of this already awesome car.

So what's the bottom line? Nissan has the right idea, they're not going for raw power, but rather overall refinement in the driving experience.

Damn dude, you reall know about the new G35's. Im impressed. My only complaint mirrors yours, I want more power. For me power is supreme and I am willing to make sacrafices for it. Im sure it will sell well, but I also hope they bring ove the GT-R for enthusiasts like me that just want a monster

I read in Super Street I think that the G35 is a Skyline derivative...anyone know if that is true? I am assuming it will be RWD...?

No IS300 for you... stay with the Nissan/Infiniti family. I can't wait to see the new G35 next spring. G35 will blow away the IS300 auto or stick any day. Nismo power all the way!

Yes G35 is a Skyline derivative, but keep in mind that the Skyline is just another Nissan Sedan much like the Maxima.

It's the the Skyline GT-R that you have in your mind.

In terms of computer science:

Skyline != Skyline GT-R

The G35 IS the next generation Skyline in Japan. The Skyline GT-R is gonna be the new GT-R concept that we've been seeing.

Yes it will be RWD and maybe at a later time AWD.
