How do you drive your Maxima?

I did a search and didn't see any threads on driving habits. It looks like there isn't one but we are going to have one now!

How do you drive your Maxima? Are you a leadfoot? Do you baby it? What RPM do you usually take it to when you accelerate? Do you like to weave through traffic?

You can even throw in your gas mileage if you like.

I usually drive my car up to 3.5k RPM, sometimes 4k. I like how the engine sounds up in that RPM range. I'm currently getting anywhere between 17 to 19 MPG in city.(Gonna replace KS within the next two months.)

Discuss your driving habits here.

I don't ever floor it, but I get off pretty quick and usuall shift at 2.5k. I take corners real hard, my tires are always squealing. I took a sharp left yesterday at a little over 30mph and all four tires were sliding on the pavement, a little wreckless and I need to start being more careful because I could have easily hit another car or the curb.

Someone finally posted in this thread. I don't think my tires ever squeeled while turning though. I do need to change out my tires though, I had a white truck pull out in front of me, and my tires were already low enough on tread. I slammed on my brakes and nearly hit him. Now my tire tread is worse than it ever was. I'm going to see about getting them replaced in June.

I usually have a lead foot, but it seems whenever i do something to customize a car it makes me drive normal.

During a-b type driving very relaxed early shifting. Only do pulls in specific areas and only get into hard driving in known mountain areas, car's handling limits are really too high to get into it on busy public roadways, that and that is dumb.

Car is driven hard but not abused, sees (an indicated) 6500 quite a bit and WOT to the 5000rpm area on most drives. Always a bit of "cool" down time for the engine and the brakes before it is parked. I usually run the car a few times a year both at the 1/4 and in the SCCA solo II.

*edit*

For the I30 I barely step on the gas and just roll around.

With my Max being so harsh and firm and responsive the I30 is soft and easy going, total lifeboat.

i drive pretty hard. ever since my ticket though (clocked @ 105) i don't really drive fast....just enjoy accelerating. most drives see WOT. when i don't drive hard i usually shift around 2500ish. i love to gear down when slowing down and hear the exhaust pop and crackle. most people that hear it take a double look because its a maxima....

i need to chill out...but its just too much fun!

i don't know my mpg...but i know its horrible! haha

Mostly highway driving. I get on it every now and then, but rarely WOT because cops are so much more prominent now (and gas prices suck) I try to coast down hills and to stops as much as possible (prob why my rotors have well over 40,000 miles on them) Gas mileage has been anywhere from 25-30 depending on where I've been that tank.

Mostly in town - was driving mostly in second gear (3000-3500 @ 65kph-40mph), some what heavy foot while manually shifting the AT and lucky to get 275 - 300kms (170 -186 ml) to a tank. With gas prices now at $1.30 p/l (5.20 p/gl) I have switched to using drive and leaving the OD on and a lighter foot - that has me getting around 400kms (248 ml) per tank. Though this still seems a bit low, it works out to 17 mph-all in town.

The Maxima is my daily driver. I do take her out now and then and give her a work out on the back roads. She get to play on the track a few times a year, just or fun. I tried driving her all nice too get max MPG and I got 18mpg vs the 17mpg from my normal driving (all short trips in town). I gave up on saving gas by driving nice, I just try to limit my driving and get on it when I want.

damn your gas mileage sucks, but anyway...

I usually baby her to get better gas mileage, shift around 3k and try to keep the RPMs low, i usually get 25 mpg.

i drive depending on my availability to pay for gas. if I have some cash to blow, rev-limiter all day. if im broke, shifting before 3.3K
regardless, I like to turn. hard and fast. no fun driving a car like mine if you baby it all the time. if i wanted a car to baby-drive, i would have a geo, or lincoln.(opposites, sure but they are like that...)

I LOVE to accelerate.. shifting at 6k a couple times per day.. i'm not really much of a consistently fast driver once i get going, but i just love the rush of acceleration.. like, i don't drive way above the speed limit, but i like to get up to speed REALLY fast.. that pull in second gear is just freakin addictive! and i can't resist a race... i can not... i've tried before, and it does not work.. i love it when some young punk with his seat leaned all the way in the back seat pulls out from behind me, and into the next lane thinking he can accelerate and get in front of me when the light changes.. no no buddy not this maxima

i'm usually a chill driver if i'm not on the open road or nobody challenges me.. only time i consistently take it easy is in the rain because my tires suck @$$.. even on good tires, i usually chill in the rain

I normally shift at 2k or 2.5k but what I really like is when a buddy is driving next to me on the high way and I drop her in 4th then just pedal it I love the sound and how hard it pulls. I just LOVE felling how hard she pulls(hehe) top end.

PS raced a integra GS-r and it killed me the other night from a 60mph roll and it ticked me off cause it is an integra and I love to play at that speed but I felt like I had a crappy car at that point. I hate loosing to civics and integras.

But I just ryed to brush it off by taking a couple corrners fast once I put on my A33 wheels on with my 235wide P-Zeros on I just fly around corrners. thos things up'd my cloverleaf speed by 15mph.

I try to never drive my max hard. I'm usually a calm driver... the only time I speed up or really give it gas is when some retard cuts me off or when the 18wheeler is being a fool and won't let me change lanes!

I let the computer decide whent to shift, because if I don't, I'd have to put my beer down and shift it myself.

I usually drive pretty calmly, though I will gun it occasionally to get out into traffic, though around town most of my (auto) shifts (even though I shift it myself) is around 3500 or so if I'm just crusing. VE30DE's aren't NEARLY as much fun in the city as they are on back curvy roads. I love cruising about 55mph and just mashing the pedal, the end of 2nd gear pulls unbelievably hard.

I'm about to do all of these things at one time:
5-spd, fidanza, exedy stage 1 pp w/ act clutch, knock sensor, ve-5 intake manifold w/power valve and intake runners, ve-5 ECU, SS clutch line, phenolic intake spacers, and my valve cover, I just have to wait until June 11th.

Then It will be pedal mashing time all the time.

Just had a dragging rear claiper replaced, should see a bit of a mileage increase. From what I found these things were rated at 19-20 city & 25-26 highway.

Damn I thinking this is diff not my thread until I read the above post now I'm not so embarrassed. This is exactly how I usually drive to the point its normal,my wife learn to drive by watching me then I realized how bad I was. This week I promised myself not to rev over 3k period so far I only failed twice in 100 miles. My max get way better gas milage than my 240 so I can't complain.

i used to drive +100mph on the freeway to school every day and every night.

but then i discovered canyon roads and i rarely go over 80 on the freeway/highway now.

i love tackling windy mountain roads! my favorite is turnbull canyon in whittier/hacienda heights california. anyone go there? anyone heard of it? hit me up if any of you guys want to go cruising there. some cool spots to take pics

...however, these rising gas prices are killing meeeeeeeee so ive been pretty mellow lately.i rarely go nuts with my maxima anymore

i baby the max all the time except for today. i usually drive 65-70mph on the fwy and i usually drive on the second lane from the right. today a corolla was tailing me behind for a mile or so then cuts me off like really really close in front of me...i had to step on my brakes...he then turns on his wipers and it wets my windshield. i got mad and floored my car past him. wow i almost forgot how much power this car has lol i got to 90mph in a couple seconds or so and he was maybe 10 or more cars behind me. i never do this but he got me mad and i'm sort of glad i have the maxima with the power other than this i hardly past 70mph =/

going from 65-90mph seems more fun than 0-60mph lol but damn doing that i saw my gas needle go down a bit =/
