Is it supposed to be this hard to turn the struts?
I have the hub knuckle unbolted from the strut assembly cause I pulled the driveshafts to take out the transmission. Anyway, I estimate by hand, turning the strut towers to take about 10-15 ft lbs. Is this supposed to be like this? From what I could hear, there was no abnormal sounds or crunking. Wonder if my strut mount bearings are going.
my friend if you are getting clunking... your springs are constantly reseating themselves..
ensure that the part of the strut marked "OUT" is pointing towards where the wheel goes on.. so it should lin e up with the bolts... i had that clunking i tried to fix it by spining the top strut mount.. but i felt lazy and just pulled the whole thing off..
as it was explained to me to do it without taking the whole thing off.. take the wheel off.. jack the car up.. loosen the top strut mounts.. and try to turn the top strut mount around..
