can anyone post or link me to a sound clip of a engine pinging. i never had a car that had pinging before and not sure if mines has it now.

I have a 03 max and when i'm under load i get a weird ping/clanging noise. I can hear it very clearly if i drive on a one way street agianst parked cars or if i'm driving agianst a wall.

Now i read that if you have engine pinging you can hear it if your windows are closed and radio is off, is this true?

If i have windows closed i can't hear the noise at all.

any sound clip would help, youtube has gone to hell.

This video too, you can hear it as the hgher pitched sound at 0:23 secs in on the vid. If you use anything less than 91 you will get pinging. If you use 91, then you might want to make sure all your injectors are spraying properly. If it is real hot out you may get pinging also.

i use 93 and still makes that noise sometime

 

You are in Alabama heat with 17 degree advanced timing. Knock on some vehicles will happen from time to time, if it happens a lot on a maxima then there would be a problem.
