air box intake question

I tried to do a search on this topic, but I'm not exactly sure what to search for...wondering if anyone has ever taken just the bottom half of the air box plenum off (along with the associated resonator and tubing), and somehow just clipped or taped the flat filter to the underside of the top half of the plenum (where it is normally held by the bottom half of the plenum). Seems like it would get rid of a lot of the plenum restriction, without having to actually spend money on a popcharger. I measured the area of the flat filter, and its actually not that much different from the area of a typical cone filter from my friend's car. Anyone tried this?

by the way, I just ate a MacDonalds chicken nugget and it tastes a lot like poo

I don't think it's been done. But the idea has been done. Andi did it to his Supra tt. I wouldn't just take out the bottom portion. I would maybe just cut up the bottom portion that the clips don't hold on to. ie... leave a square "ring" that the clips can hold the filter up with. Or would have to fab some kind of holder to keep the filter against the upper housing. Good luck.

I've run that setup for years. I just zip-tied the filter to the top half of the housing. Works great...

...but now I'm running OSCAI.
