Race Story: [Long] don't bother reading it, just needed to vent
So i am driving to astoria from bellmore, LI tonight around 10pm on NSP west. As i pass the exit for LIE west i am doing about 70 in the middle lane (cuz i always stay to the right except to pass) I see this late model q45, the ones with the actual 4.5L v8 and superwhite headlights that passes me pretty fast. I generally don't race, but i like to drive as fast as possible, there is a difference. I leave it in fifth and shadow the Q following about 1/8 mi behind him at around 90-95 mph. The Q gets hung up in traffic in front of a 540i and a maroon 97-99 Max SE. The Q breaks away to pass and the 540i, maroon max and i follow suit all at about 90mph. The Q exits so its the 540, the maroon max, and I. We cut and thrust through traffic at a moderate 70 mph, but the maroon max gets caught up in traffic and doesn't pursue any further.
Then there were two. I end up in the middle lane right behind the 540 in an unexpectedly empty NSP/GCP. As we pass the new hyde park exit i see a puff of smoke emit from the 540's tailpipes...its on. Adrenaline is funny thing, so i drop into third and follow. Considering the open highway, the 540 won the race before it started, but i was suprised that the 540 was only slowly inching away. By the time we reach the Cross island exit we are doing about 125. After the exit the 540 slowed to about 60 as did I, but then I decided to just floor it anyway and the 540 latches onto my bumper although way to about 125-130, dodging the light traffic. As I approach the clearview exp exit another Q45 comes into the lane i'm in. Braking from 125 to 55 is a scary thing, but the brakes worked effectively, although they suffered quite a bit of fade. The 540 exits at clearview. It wasn't really a race with a clear winner, but 540 is obviously a faster car, but DAMN was it fun.

puff of smoke i was referring to is when a car goes to wot and the the condensation evaporates due to the hot exhaust gases, i think. I just meant to imply that the 540 went to wot.

Umm, dude you are guilty of a faux pas.... You did a riceboy flyby! If I get a chance to race somebody and lose, the least I'll do is wave and smile and acknowledge them. Some of the riceboys around here race you, and after you kill them, they do a flyby looking straight ahead.... kinda rude and then its at those times I am worried that they are thugging and will shoot at me or something.
Oh well... my opinion... Good race, I enjoy it when you have a bunch of like-minded drivers on the road.
