What do you mean download for a CONSULT-II? It's a specialized piece of hardware, with appropriately enough, specialized software designed specifically for said hardware. Good luck downloading this:

You looking for it for your G? Why not just use Cipher?

As far as the CONSULT-III, it is (at least partially) software, but I believe there's specific hardware that's required in order to make use of it.

Dont even bother with the consult 3 software that is loaded onto the Toughbook.

The application will not work unless its used on a Toshiba toughbook with the same serial number that the program was registered to. I know this, by experience.

Ciper would be best, you cannot donwload a consult 2 because as previously stated, its a physical tool.

There is software which can mimick the consult 2 features with the aid of a laptop.

Where can I download Cipher? If I had a CD I would rip that and crack it to work on everything. Cant believe they charge 300-400 for that.

I'm not aware of any places that have it for download, but without the proprietary UpRev OBD-II cable, the software is useless. Won't even open, IIRC.

How exactly do you expect to use software without a physical connector to the vehicle?

They sell OBD-II to USB on eBay. That should work.

Indeed they do, but a regular OBD-II cable will not work to access CONSULT features, nor will it ever work with Cipher. Key word from my last post is proprietary, specifically in UpRev's case.

On the note of the Ebay OBD2 cables, I am not so sure I would recommend the cheapo "ELM 327" ones from Hong Kong. My friend bought one and apparently those do not have a real ELM 327 chip inside and don't interface with the software correctly. It's kindof a bummer, I was hoping one of those cheap ones would work, but I guess not according to my friend. Just throwing that out there, I wouldn't want to see anyone waste their money on something, but if someone has gotten one of those 30someod dollar OBD2 to USB things to work, that would be great.

Speaking of which...I have a question. I have limited findings from search, but I assume consult provides everything than can be accessed by OBD and then some. What additional features does consult have?

CONSULT-II (haven't played around with 3) does quite a lot of different stuff, from cylinder power balance tests to performing BCM functions (on later model cars, like the Z33s anyway). Airbag diagnosis, TCM diagnosis, can print out codes and descriptions, etc. Very handy for problems, but playing around with it gets boring after a while if you no longer need it.

Also, the CONSULT port on the A32 is much faster for data transfer than the OBD-II port.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. I think I definitely will be saving up for a consult adapter( was going to get one soon, but my front strut just exploded through my hood tonight....yea...no joke..), I find it will probably be quite useful in making sure everything is running optimally. I've been thinking my car hasn't been running properly and making optimal power, I figure if theres any tool, it is Consult.
