WHat year would you buy?

If you didnt have your max now, what year would you buy and why? ( And dont just say the 09's bc they redid them and are sick looking).

I personally like the 03's when they tweaked them slightly from the 00-02's. Now im looking into an 07 possibly. Need to do a little more research.

wow umm i'd buy a 95GXE, 97SE, 99SE-L and a 02SE i cant tell you why but i just always liked those years, i owned 2 95 GXE's and loved them greatly, always thought in my head that a 97SE was faster than all other 4th gens (dont know y?) and a crimson blaze 99

I really like my 4th gen even though I never drive it anymore. I'd buy another 97-99 if the right combo came up (either another 5 speed Crimson or a Sage Green SE with black leather and a sunroof). Either that or a nice 2nd gen wagon.

I owned a 3rd gen and wasn't a big fan, and the newer ones really don't do anything for me either...oh well.

Did you have a VE Or VG 3g?

If I could find a really good condition low mileage 1992-1994 SE in 5-spd and had enough money to drop some in it before I even started driving it I'd do that. No other Maxima really appeals to me a whole lot.

00-01 good blend of power fuel efficiency, doesnt have the oil burning issues of the 5.5, and it isn't near impossible to find a good one with a manual tranny.

Ive never owned a 3rd gen though I like them. Id die if I got the 2 spoke steering wheel, especially with the maroon interior! Yuck. Id need the VEpowa baby! So 92-94 SE for me.

98 SE, best overall 4th gen IMO.

You got to love the 01 AE, no argument there.

The 03 TE is nice looking with all the bells and whistles, the meridian package IIRC. Id be scared to own an oil burner however.

It was a VG with an auto transmission that I had as a beater for a few months. Not exactly the ideal combination haha.

I really do like the 3g body style a lot though, I just haven't had a chance to drive a VE5 yet.

5.5 hands down in terms of style and performance. i'v owned 3rds, 4ths 5ths and driven 6ths. and the 5.5 still beats em in terms of performance and style imo.

however since the 7th gen is available i have to pick that because it looks bad *** compared to the last gen(6th) and a new car is better then a 5 year old car just because of the little things.

then again autos suck to drive so it's a toss up between the two.

So why are you here? But I love my '96 > '03. So I'd either get a '95 or '96.

i'll get a 4th gen with a S/C 3.5 i think that the 97-99 maximas look the best and that engine is a master peice.

I have an 03 but I would get a 97-99SE if I could do it over. I just hate how big and long the 5.5 gen is....turning radius is crap. My car is pissing me off.

I pretty much would stick with a 3rd gen (VE) or a 5.5 gen
The 5.5 are so appealing to me but the 3rd gen still has a great body style considering the time/age it was..and look damn good today if well maintained (ie, Greeny/Pearl/etc.)

If I didn't have a Maxima and was getting one for the first time, I'd get a 01 SE 5spd.

4th gen, specifically '98. Nicer rear end, no emissions hate/swirl valves, failing coilpacks, nicer steering wheel, better cupholders, side airbags, and yet still chippable

01's AE were nice too

Either a '97-98 for looks or a 5.5 for everything else. I am still a big fan of the 4th gen though.

Love my 99, 5th gen's are ok, don't like the 6th gen body style.
If I were to buy a new car now, it would have to be a 7th gen.

I'd get another 5.5 gen but I'd hold out for a 6 speed.

My dream Maxima:

1999 SE-L
Crimson Blaze or Pearl White
5-MT of course
Black leather
Heated seats
All options

4th gens seem to be the best all-around. If not for the CVT I'd like the current gen much more.

I'd choose the 5.5 gen. I've owned the 3rd and 4th.
