As The Seasons Change...

I just wanted to make a point to remind everyone that as the seasons begin to change so does your driving style. We just had our first decent snow of the season here in Illinois, and i wont lie i took a turn a bit too quick about 20 mins ago, and well let me put it to you like this; when i finally got the car stopped, i was facing the wrong way on a one way road. oh and a Nice Nick on my bumper cover... Lucky Me thats all considering the traffic behind me.

I know this is typically common sense, and i thought so too until your in a situation like i just was. But sometimes you dont really process the thought until your in my shoes, ha.

I just wanted to remind everyone to drive safe, cause that asphalt gets slick and we dont need any R.I.P' threads!

Yeah we had our first snow here at the university i'm at up in Ohio. Not much stuck to the ground but it was enough to make the ground a little slippery!

Take it easy this winter, i know i have to (as i haven't driven in the snow/ice before)

Thanks for the tip. The worst is driving through the Adirondaks and having animals suddenly jump out at you, AND the road is slushy as hell.

Been watching the weather myself to see when we're going to get enough accumulation to make it worthwhile to put my Blizzaks on. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the denser air. :

Losing control UNEXPECTEDLY is not at all fun, especially when you have time to reflect before impact.

I have to agree with the shock of the weather. My third gen was much better in the snow than my fifth gen. I know people will think I am crazy, but I think it was the iron vs aluminum business in the engine and being lighter reduced the traction to the wheels. Sounds crazy, but my third gen never slid like this car. The wheels and tires are exactly the same, I took them off the old car when it was wrecked. I had a huge black ice scare. Hit the brakes early, but not early enough and almost slid into a busy intersection. Once you hit ice, the call isn't really yours anymore.

I know when colder weather arrives by the start up rattle and the soft 2-3 shift until the car warms up. Just another reason to hate winter...

Here in south Texas, we might get a handful of sub-30° days. I always give my car about a minute to warm up before I put it in gear. Then, I mimic the auto tranny behavior on our '03 Accord V6 as it warms up. Slowly rev to about 2500 RPM in each gear and smoothly shift to the next.

Agreed, whiteSE, I love driving in the winter here. Put on the heater and open that sunroof.

FWD FTL!
I hate driving my Maxima in the snow. I fishtail every where and have to drive extremely slow ughhh.
I'm use to AWD in my old Evo during the winter when it snows. Its definitely a huge change!

I've driven one before in the winter, but it had snow tires on it; therefore, it wasnt so bad.

We actually had some sleet and snow this evening in Dallas. Stayed just above freezing so the roads were just wet.

I drove from The border of Michigan/indiana (By the lake) back to Columbus, OH.....There was about a foot of snow on the ground....it was NOT FUN! I have some good BF Goodrich All Seasons tires, but man The snow was horrible to drive in. It took me about 6 hours to get back to OSU when it only should of taken me 4, ughhh! Makes me want my evo back! ahh.

Heres a picture of the Evo after playing in the snow (My bf's Evo, not mine). There was sooooo much snow that we could barely do donuts....The car looks like it's eating the snow in this picture.
