Speed Limit

Hi Guys.

Just want to know if your cars are SPeed limited by fuel or spark.

I had a 3rd gen SE and I could drive on the speedlimiter and it would shudder very slightly as if the car was "deleting sparks" to keep the Rpm down. My 4th Gen gets to about 200 (km/hr) and then stops like I turned the key off and when it gets to 170 It goes again. Is this a time set or when it gets back to 170. This indicates to me that its cutting fuel. Does it do this by stopping the injectors? Maybe on my 3rd gen did it stop just 2 cylinders or maybe 1? I dont know.

It's got to be a fuel cut. It may cut the spark as well, but it has to cut the fuel.

If you only cut the spark, but keep shooting fuel in, that fuel will pass unburned through the cylinder and into the exhaust. When it hits the hot exhaust system parts, it will ignite. This is very bad...and very loud.

I'm not sure about '96 Cefiro's, but I read in a post that Maxima GXE's are speed limited because of their tires' speed rating (I think "S").
