Help me diagnose...
So I tore my dash apart yesterday, to fix the clock. I put it back together and go in the house. I come back out 1 hour later and get in to start it and it cranks over but will not start. So I pull the fuel filter out, and my dad gets in the car and cranks it over and no fuel is squirting out of the lines. Isnt it supposed to? I am hoping I didnt pull nothing out in the dash, but I doubt it. I am thinking fuel pump! How about you???
Check fuse to fuel pump first... If it's good... Put key in and turn to last position before cranking (dash should light up)... Listen for the fuel pump to prime... it does so the 1st second at that position then it turns off until the car is cranked.
According to the '99 FSM, the ECM only allows the fuel pump to operate for 1 second if the engine is not running. The ECM does not directly drive the pump; it operates the fuel pump relay.
To find out if the fuel pump is operating, open the hood and find the fuel line coming out of the top of the fuel filter. Pinch this fuel line with your fingers and have someone turn the ignition switch to the "run" (second) position. You should feel a pulse in the line for 1 second.
