I already know how to paint the actual rim but does anyone know of a good way to paint the plastic center caps? I'm afraid if I spray the stuff that eats up the paint on them it will melt the plastic as well.. Any ideas?

Also: Should I sand the center caps and if so what would be the best way to do it?

 

Definitely sand them.

 

Just wash them with warm water and dish wash soap. Sand them with 600 grit and happy painting!
