Powdercoating calipers?

Hey guys,

Anyone out there ever tried or even thought of powdercoating their calipers? I was thinking of doing mine this weekend but I found a local place that'll powdercoat my calipers in any color I want for $40 each. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks. Also, what are your car/caliper color combos? I have a dark blue car. I was thinking of red but that's just too tacky IMO. Any ideas? Thanks again.

Regards,
Mike H.

Whatever color you pick, just make sure the powdercoat will stand up to the heat!

Also, with powdercoating, they will not be as bright as a nice coat of gloss paint, so red may not be as tacky as you think.

Hmmmm. Never thought of that. I just ordered some touchup paint in a can to try on the calipers.

It's not an issue with powdercoating.

All you'll need is a caliper rebuild kit (seals).

Good luck rebuilding your own calipers. The powdercoating shop will not coat it if it's not just bare metal. If you don't know how to rebuild calipers, non of the local shops will do it due to liability reason. Shops just replace bad calipers with remanufactured one and don't rebuild them anymore.
