Question about 18 inch rims

I think i'm gonna put 18's on my car, quick question, will they ruin the ride at all or throw off my speedometer. Will there be any negitive effects going form stock 15's to 18's

Put a pillow on your seat...

Its gonna hurt like a b*tch. If you get the right tire size, your speedometer will not be off, but I guarentee no matter what you do you are gonna be in pain..

Pillows are for sissies

I have 17's and have had no problems. I can ride for about 2 hrs before i start to feel anything. 18's looks a lot better than 15. A good wheel and tire size is 18 X 8 paired with 235/40/18. if you still have qtns, look on miata.net they have a tire size calculator in the garage section i think

you'll feel bumps a lot more in 18x, but as for looks, well you can't beat it.

Though if you get the right shocks/springs combo, like KYB AGX/H&R Springs, your ride will be just fine, like mine..

Unless you spend a ton and get some nice light rims, your acceleration is going to be worse.

But who cares!

I've got 18's on a sprint/koni setup. The ride is fine. Just don't drive in Washington D.C. and you'll be fine. I'm pretty sure though that if you get 18's you won't regret it. I'm thinking bout going up to 19's.

Get them 18's if you want the nice look or possibly 19's, It aint going to hurt sh.t, is not like your on ground controls hitting potholes. I have 18x8 with 245/40 18, that is a good setup. I also have my konis very tight and I cut one of my front coils on my intrax. I live in pothole kingdom as well New Orleans. I rode in a vehicle where the ride was rough where I didnt want to get in the vehicle no more, this is nothing like this. If some of these guys are riding on 18's and they re *** hurts they must be hitting some serious potholes and they have some cheap suspension or stock suspension.

Thats to skiny for a max. You need at least a 235 I recomend a 245 ( I have that). As for the 35 thats up to you depends how much side wall you want. If you drive bad or in a bad area depending on the rim, if it's cheap get a 40 searies to protect it. But if all is good yeah 35 is great for proformance. 18 x7.5 is ok but wider is better I say get 8-9 inches wide.

yeah i know that 18x8 is preferred and i like the wider width tire but i was just askin cause wheelmax.com has like EVERYTHING in 18x7.5 and the deals with the tire and wheels are real good. only thing is..they give out kumhos or toyos in the size i said..215/35's for 18 in wheels. guess when you go cheaper, you lose a lil of what you want too. prolly jus wait for the right time for em. i dont like the high offsent on 18x7.5's also. thanx for ur help.

Shadow's rolling on 19's and GC's and his car isn't that bad. Its actually a little better than my Prelude on stock 16's w/ Skunkworks. Its more dependent on spring rate than anything. The Max is a little short on travel when lowered about 4" though so big bumps are kind of rough especially in his race seats but liveable.
